The role you’ll contribute:

Coordinates departmental efforts and serves as liaison with clinical departments, physicians, physician office staff, coders, revenue management team and central billing office to ensure compliance with Medicare billing regulatory guidelines. Interprets federal and state regulatory and operational practices that have significant impact on the hospital reimbursement. Has knowledge of CDM assignments. Has knowledge and understanding of CMS APC standards, ICD-10 codes, CPT codes, and HCPCS codes as well as modifier guidelines.

Coordinates departmental efforts to function with APC’s for the Texas region hospitals

Daily complete the HIM Charge Correction Tool queue

Daily complete the audit review queue

Works all edits, errors, and warnings associated with reports

Works with nurse auditor to verify/correct charges

Provides ongoing education to departments regarding issues discovered

Serves as a liaison between HIM/PFS/Departments/Administration

Works the DNFC report. Performs searches for missing documents identified in the coding process. Notifies the coding staff when dictation or documents are complete, and the account can be coded

Supplement outpatient coding when requested

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

Minimum qualifications :

High school diploma and successfully completed a medical coding certificate program or 2 year HIM program.

CCA or CPC or CCS or RHIT or RHIA Certification
