Location: Advent Health CastleRock

The role you'll contribute:

Provides technical and data entry support to intradepartmental staff encompassing patient charge related functions and activities for the entity/entities. Serves as liaison to external customers providing price quotes, general explanation of charges and validation services to facilitate resolution of charge disputes. Responsible for liaison between Central Business Office (CBO) and Hospital staff for the purpose of addressing billing issues. Monitor hot line referrals and inquiries from patients, CBO, and physicians daily. Conducts charge audits on charges that are in question using Health Information Management staff and Nurse Auditor as a resource to resolve issues.

  • Evaluates charge related issues presented by patients, physicians, insurance companies, billing, nursing and/or ancillary departmental personnel based on nature of issue presented: disputes over service(s) rendered, price or quality of care associated with service rendered, coding and/or billing compliance.

  • Validates charges based on Departmental records, and/or test results available via departmental records or test results.

  • Employs good accounting practices and high degree of accuracy in posting charge corrections and/or transactions based on results of charge validation process.

  • Applies pattern recognition principles in identifying ineffective charging practices for nursing and ancillary department feedback.

  • Review daily charge error reports and resolve as necessary.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed :

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 2 years of experience in hospital billing, admitting, or medical records; Medical Terminology.

  • Basic Computer / Word Processing Skills; Ten-Key by touch.

  • Excellent organizational, leadership, interpersonal and customer relations skills.

  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of system personnel.

  • Knowledge of word processing and spread sheet software.
