Location: AdventHealth Porter

The role you'll contribute:

Performs diagnostic ultrasound imaging procedures. Obtains and documents patient clinical information as needed. Performs basic patient care within scope of practice and to departmental standards. Assists in radiology department as needed. Responsibility to adhere to the Hospital Corporate compliance plan, to the rules and regulations of all local, state, and Federal agencies, and to the standards of all accrediting bodies.

  • May perform leadership responsibilities in the Ultrasound Modality and reports to leadership.

  • Accepts responsibility for supervision of students as they rotate through assigned area.

  • Active in process improvement for the Ultrasound Department.

  • Helps adjusts staff coverage to maintain adequate, but not excessive, coverage, when needed.

  • Knowledgeable in and compliant with process related to high level disinfection of transvaginal probes or other equipment as appropriate.

  • Demonstrates the ability to solve job-related problems such as equipment malfunctions, alternate patient positioning if needed, additional views and realization of equipment and patient limitations.

  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of anatomy and physiology and uses this knowledge to enhance scans and individualize each exam if needed to aid in diagnosis of patient.

  • Responsible for the coordination of daily assignments. Records and analyzes data and shares results with leadership.

  • Notifies nursing floors when behind schedule so that patients may be fed accordingly and re-prepped for new scheduled time.

  • Actively participates in patient satisfaction initiatives. Daily utilizes rounding process for identification of service and patient satisfaction issues. Assists in developing action plans where applicable. Initiates patient service recovery, when appropriate.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:


  • Associates degree from accredited program

  • One-year experience as a sonographer

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)(S) or American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) specialty examination in Abdomen (AB), Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or Vascular (VS) and Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN) plus one additional specialty examination requirement.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, American Heart Association.


  • Two-year experience as a sonographer

  • Certification in Pediatric or Breast
