Work Hours/Shift:   Full Time / Day

You Will Be Responsible For:

  1. Demonstrates AdventHealth’s core value of Integrity, Compassion, Balance, Excellence, Stewardship, and Teamwork.
  2. Gathers and analyzes financial statement information to prepare month end journal entries for all assigned financial classes, cost center, and entities.  Ensures that all entries to the financial statements and subsidiary ledgers, from any source system, are approved and posted to the correct location.
  3. Supports the monthly close process, always meeting deadlines, and getting answers for questionable amounts.
  4. Routinely reconciles assigned balance sheet classes to a lead schedule and reports issues to department leaders.
  5. Participates in internal and external audits, providing explanations and support for the financial statements. 

What You Will Need:

  • Four (4) year accounting degree, or four (4) year non-accounting degree with adequate accounting course work including intermediate accounting and other upper level financial and accounting courses.
  • Familiar with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. 
  • Complete understanding of double entry accounting and an operational understanding of routine accounting functions. 
  • Working knowledge of personal computer applications and spreadsheet analysis. 
Job Summary:

The accountant’s primary responsibilities are to ensure that all financial transactions are properly stated, amount is correct and financial statement classification is accurate.  The accountant must be able to effectively communicate the results of their entries, providing explanations and support for booked amounts.  Each month, there is a financial statement close process, and the accountant must meet all related deadlines.  During the remaining portion of each month, the accountant will work on various projects, which may include reconciling all assigned balance sheet classes, working with internal and external auditors, preparing and submitting all forms related to tax, corporate, regulatory, and community benefits.   The accountant actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
