Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant, PA-C

Full-Time Opportunity with IBD focus at AdventHealth Orlando

General Summary:

Our teams in Digestive Health & Surgery Institute and AHMG are building a comprehensive, multi-specialty IBD program. This multi-specialty IBD program will include gastroenterologists, colorectal surgeons, pathologists, radiologists, dieticians, psychologists, social workers, ostomy RNs and IBD pain specialists. This position is the first of several APP positions that will become part of a growing team of physicians and advanced practice providers focused on IBD.

The IBD program brings a first of its kind offering to our patients within Central Florida.

The APRN or PA, under the supervision of the Physician(s) who acts as the collaborative practitioner, is responsible for:

  • Performing physical examinations of patients, evaluation, and treatment of patients with IBD or other GI related conditions
  • Ordering and interpreting appropriate diagnostic tests, such as labs and imaging
  • Monitoring the patient’s course of treatment and making appropriate referrals to other specialists, as needed
  • Collaborating with physician supervisor to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff
  • Ordering and managing infusion medications
  • Displaying a caring and professional attitude at all times

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff, and patients
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong medical decision-making skills

Schedule Details:

  • Primarily outpatient, some in-patient responsibility
  • Predominantly Monday – Friday schedule
  • Some flexibility to work evening or weekends preferred, not required
  • One weekend of call per month

Required Education/Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant studies

Preferred Education/Experience:

  • GI related experience
  • IBD experience (or interest) preferred
  • experience with management of biologics infusion preferred, not required

Licensure, Certification, and Registration:

  • Current, valid Florida APRN or PA license
  • ANCC (or equivalent) or NCCPA certification
  • Current BLS and ACLS • DEA Required
