You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Oversees entire recruitment process for Non-Acute Services from initial search request to execution of contract. 

  • Oversees the development and placement of appropriate advertisements in key journals and website postings to attract qualified physician responses.  Works with designated physician recruitment search firms, as may be needed.  Utilizes available tools, such as PracticeLink, Health-e-Careers, the internet, direct mailings, AH Physician Recruitment website etc., to establish a pool of physician candidates.

  • Conducts and directly recruits for searches ongoing that are mostly medical director and leadership candidates including Pediatric subspecialties and Cardiovascular, Neuroscience and Cancer Institutes. Screens applicants according to established criteria and conducts reference checks and third-party background checks as required. Conducts initial telephone interviews to determine eligibility for the positions identified.

  • Coordinates physician interview visits and development of itineraries and maintains a liaison relationship with other AdventHealth departments.  Ensures physician site visits are comprehensive, professional, and beneficial to the candidates and their families.

  • Maintains consistent communication and follow-up with physician candidates and management at various campuses and departments through the recruitment process.  Works directly with Director of Contracting and AHMG Legal to support timely turnaround of documents to candidates.

  • Performs special recruitment-related projects as deemed necessary for AdventHealth.

  • Establishes and maintains relationships with various residency and fellowship programs across the state of Florida and US.  Attends specialty conferences and out of state job fairs as deemed appropriate by Senior Executive Officer.

  • Maintains a good understanding of the physician strategies/campus business plans in effect for each designated Non-Acute Service Lines and maintain on-going liaison relationships with leaders and service line administrators.

  • Manages vendor contracts for search firms and locum tenens companies utilized within the WFD

  • Maintains current knowledge regarding compliance and legal issues surrounding recruiting and contracting for physicians.

  • Thorough working knowledge of the resources, tools and processes utilized in the sourcing and recruitment of new physicians.

  • An understanding of physician practice budget proforma preparation is essential.

  • Must have current knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements related to physician recruitment arrangements.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills essential including conflict resolution, consensus building and dynamic interview skills.

  • Must be able to facilitate multi-tasking by handling a large number of projects at one time.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize work flow and assist with establishing departmental goals objectives required.



What You Will Need:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration or related field

  • Minimum of 8-10 years prior physician recruitment experience

  • Minimum of 6-8 years prior experience in hospitals or other health care organizations


  • FASPR (Fellow of Association of Staff Physician Recruiters) highly preferred

Job Summary:

Directs and manages the recruitment of physicians and advance practitioners for West Florida Division (WFD).  Provides professional guidance and support for the selection, recruitment and retention of physicians in response to the needs of AdventHealth and private physician practices within the WFD’s service area.  The primary responsibility is to ensure that there is a pipeline of qualified physician candidates who are available for consideration and placement within identified practice opportunities.  Supervises the physician recruitment staff. Coordinates the daily recruitment activities of these employees as well as performing active physician recruitment directly.  Monitors the recruitment process and procedures for consistency and recommends improvement where needed. Provides guidance and consultation to senior leadership regarding the physician recruitment trends and approaches.   Consults with the leadership at the various AdventHealth campuses monthly and recommends qualified physician candidates to management for interviews and follow-up. Works collaboratively with leadership of AHMG, ASC’s, Imaging and other specialty group management to prepare benchmark reports for performance of recruitment activities, determine resource needs and ensure proactive planning for new specialties. Assists with the development and updating of the recruitment plan by physician specialty and keeps abreast of significant physician issues in the medical community. Works to achieve the goals and objectives of the department within the policies and philosophy of AdventHealth.
