Behavioral Health Tech Supervisor AdventHealth Hope & Healing Center

Location Address:

Work Hours/Shift: Full Time Nights 7PM-7A
You Will Be Responsible For:   
  • Demonstrates through AdventHealth’s core values of Integrity, Compassion, Balance, Excellence, Stewardship and Teamwork as outlined in the organization’s Performance Excellence Program booklet.

  • Performs checks on assigned residents focusing on behavior and appearance.

  • Reports patient status, abnormal problems, and behavioral changes to therapist and under the direction of therapist, per policies and procedures, assists in preforming behavioral health Standards of Care.

  • Performs properly and legibly documents and reports all procedures in accordance with department policy.

  • Assists in identifying needs and developing/modifying plan of care.

  • Recognizes potential escalation of behavior and has ability to use appropriate verbal and physical interventions.

  • Recognizes potential safety hazards, intervenes for the safety of residents, visitors and staff and notifies appropriate department or person for correction of the problem.

  • Possesses a basic knowledge of psychotropic drugs, uses and side effects.

  • Participates in practice changes as a result of performance improvement activities. Demonstrates accurate documentation and monitoring of activities as needed. Supports quality standards and initiatives set by the department.

  • Exhibits desire to learn and upgrade skills. Interacts effectively with other team members.

  • Leads group activities with the residents to assist with positive change.

  • Assists with food distribution to residents.

  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department or unit.

  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Provides oversight and directions of Behavioral Health Technicians, preforms yearly evaluations, disciplinary actions and or any other HR-related compliance activities as appropriate.
    • Provides oversight and supervision of all activities at the center in the absence of senior leadership.
    • Supports performance improvement model of the organization by identification, data gathering, evaluation, and implementation.
    • Evaluates and manages, along with the treatment team, strategic plans including developing priorities, determining the structure, and defining the approach for new strategic issues for quality outcomes.
    • Works closely with leadership to determine action plans for departmental improvements to align with the campus and system strategies and goals.
    • Preforms medical duties that are in the scope of an LPN.
    • Serves as a resource to employees, answering questions, and clarifying guidelines. Conducts effective, routine section meetings and educational sessions.

    • Supports Behavioral Health Technicians’ in a working role to continue the Behavioral health Technicians’ responsibilities including resident checks, groups, documentation, and complete resident care.

    • Exercises independent decision-making processes to identify, plan, and execute goals. Willing to seek extra work, accepts new responsibilities, and adapts to potential departmental change. Accepts and profits from direction and constructive feedback. Prioritizes multiple projects, meets project deadlines, and manages multiple customer relationships.

    • Responsible for performance management, coaching, discipline, engagement, assisting in hiring, and talent management of team



Qualifications
What Will You Need: 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Adequate knowledge of activities of daily living.

  • Customer service skills.

  • Organizational ability, sound judgment and initiative.

  • Knowledge of substance use disorder and behavioral health terminology with various treatment approaches.

  • Understanding and the ability to lead group activities.

  • Proficient in time management with superior prioritization skills.
  • Self-motivator and quick thinker who is proactive and results oriented.

  • Ability to motivate employees to attain organizational goals
  • Interpersonal skills that promote teamwork.
  • Ability to function in a stressful and fast-paced environment.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead in the delivery of substance use and mental health education

     

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:

    • Knowledge of electronic medical records
    • Strong competence in Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word
    • Minimum 2-year supervisory experience
    • Minimum 3-years behavioral health experience
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • Two years of experience with individuals that have behavioral health or substance use disorders.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

    • Two-year college degree with a major in psychology, nursing or related field.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:

  • CPI Trained
  • BLS Certification

JOB SUMMARY:


The Behavioral Health Technician Supervisor works under the supervision of the Clinical Director of Operations in performing specific duties with staff and residents identified in the position responsibilities. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
