Work Hours/Shift:
Full Time, Days
You Will Be Responsible For:
  • Documents all actions performed on clinical equipment which enters the hospital. Develops and implements schedules of safety testing and preventative maintenance to comply with the Equipment Management Standards of the Joint Commission, and Federal, State, and Local regulations. Repairs malfunctioning clinical equipment. Conducts user training sessions related to proper operation of clinical equipment. Coordinates actions of all outside vendors pertaining to the clinical equipment of the hospital.  Prepares written reports to the Safety Committee
  • Participates on the HAZMAT/DECON function
  • If applicable to facility participates in the CER process offering technical advice and installation evaluations. Items considered are safety and environmental factors, such as electrical demands, spare parts, test equipment, and service manuals. The equipment approval/disapproval is documented on the CER requisition form
  • Demonstrates initiatives in developing, implementing and analyzing quality improvement activities and outcomes of the department
  • Contributes to the recruitment and retention of employees.
  • Resolves employee satisfaction concerns in a timely manner, assuring they have been thoroughly investigated and appropriate actions taken, including notification of Human Resources if necessary
  • Resolves patient satisfaction concerns in a timely manner, assuring they have been thoroughly addressed and appropriate action taken
  • Submits reports and requests for information by established deadlines
  • Performs other duties as assigned 

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Effective communication among employees, and between employees, patients, visitors and supervisors is essential to ensure quality patient care and to avoid misunderstanding, errors and miscommunications which could have a detrimental effect on the health, safety and well-being of patients and co-workers.  In addition to these communication and safety concerns, individuals in this position must be able to effectively read and understand patient medical equipment information, nurse and/or physician verbal and written communication, hospital safety information, and hazardous chemicals.  Therefore, to prevent misunderstandings, errors, and miscommunications in the provision of quality patient care and other job-related services
  • Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office


  • Associate degree (A. A.) from an accredited School of Biomedical Engineering or applicable training and experience
  • Three years of experience with Medical Electronics
  • Five years of experience with Medical Electronics preferred.


  • State Driver’s License if applicable to facility
  • Current proof of auto liability insurance
  • Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) Preferred.
  • Supervises Biomedical Technicians and Senior Biomedical Technicians daily operations
