PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads the culture of change to organizational decision making based on objective data analytics through effective management of key data collection programs.

  • Responsible for the effective and timely integration of a transparent, real-time data analytics program that provides an array of business intelligence tools that validate organizational data and influence the decision-making structure.

  • Provides planning, implementation, integration and evaluation of the hospital-wide clinical and operational business intelligence program.

  • Collaborates with Quality Management, Patient Safety & Risk Management, Nursing and Medical Staff to identify opportunities for process improvement efforts through advanced statistical analyses and process improvement methodologies such as Lean and Six Sigma.

  • Provides intelligence, tracking and trending for clinical and administrative internal and external performance measures.

  • Oversees the creation and management of hospital metrics and balanced scorecards which cover the continuum of business and clinical objectives.

  • Supervises and manages a team of business intelligence staff responsible for providing comprehensive reports throughout the hospital including the assessment of performance improvement results, identification of barriers and recommendations for initiating and sustaining various initiatives.

  • Serves as a liaison with clinical and administrative staff across organizational boundaries to achieve program goals, working closely and collaboratively with other services and staff involved directly or indirectly in the processes.

  • Ensures the hospital’s business intelligence program activities are established and flourishing.

  • Provides effective guidance to executive leaders and ensures they are kept apprised of hospital performance, progress and obstacles.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Strong analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Ability to work with data that is of a sensitive and confidential nature.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.

  • Ability to interact professionally with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families, and visitors.

  • Skilled in computer programs such as Excel, PowerPoint, PowerPivot, Oracle, Qlik and PowerInsight.

  • Strong knowledge of statistical methods and software such as Sigma XL and Minitab.

  • Working knowledge of the appropriate Joint Commission standards and AHCA/CMS regulations and information.

•         Understanding of Patient Safety Organization (PSO) membership, activities related to the operation of a Patient Safety Evaluation System (PSES), and Patient Safety Work Product (PSWP).

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:

•         None

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

 

•         Bachelor’s degree in business administration or intelligence.

  • Lean, Six Sigma, PDCA/PDSA and/or other improvement methodology training.

  • Minimum of five years’ experience facilitating improvement teams in an acute-care setting, preferably tertiary setting.

    Evidence of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) data extraction experience through advanced programming and data modeling such as Structured Query Language (SQL) or SAP Business Objects.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

•         Master’s degree in business administration or intelligence.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

 

  • Certification in Lean, Six Sigma or other advanced performance improvement methodology.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:

  • Certified Project Manager (CPM)

    Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ)

    Six Sigma Black Belt or Master Black Belt Certification
