Schedule: Full Time FT Days

Shift: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

Location: 1613 North Mills Ave. Orlando, FL 32803, requires travel to other locations

The role you’ll contribute:

The Cardiovascular Stress Technologist is responsible for the monitoring and evaluation of cardiac rhythms and rhythm EKG analysis in person during treadmill and/or chemical stress testing; evaluation of online information, retrieval and triage of that information, preparing it for entry to electronic health record, and physician evaluation. Determines when an adequate test has been obtained and consults supervisor or cardiologist as needed. May take medical history, record vital signs, schedule patients.

  • Greets, and prepare patients for cardiac stress testing with appropriate history, proper skin preparation, and EKG lead placement.
  • Maintains understanding of Nuclear medicine procedures (exercise and pharmacological), stress echo, and treadmill exams to answer patient questions and perform history screening.
  • Evaluates patients to ensure proper EKG tracing obtained prior to beginning any stress testing. Ability to recognize variances in EKG tracing and compare with previous tracing to determine when appropriate to be reviewed by the physician before beginning exam. Acquires EKG tracings and blood pressure during stress exam (exercise or pharmacological) as required per protocol. Evaluates patient during exam for changes in EKG, Blood pressure, fatigue, respiratory compromise, and evaluation of chest tightness or pressure with recording and documentation. Knowledgeable of when to appropriately end exam per protocol or symptom related reasons and maintains safe recovery for patient with documentation and monitoring.
  • Reviews patient chart for contraindicate medications prior to exam. Maintains understanding of cardiac and hypertensive medications that could potentially interfere with cardiac stress testing.
  • Prepares departmental charts for Nuclear, Stress Echo, and Treadmill in timely manner. Includes appropriate required information and screens for potential conflicts with scheduled exam. Informs physician, supervisor, and staff technologist in timely manner to address any potential conflict.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

Minimum qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Cardiovascular stress testing on-the-job training or completion of an approved CVT program
  • Completion of AHHG EKG tracing recognition exam and training will be required upon hire.
  • BLS certification

Preferred qualifications: 

  • IBHRE (International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners) Certification
  • ACLS certification
