Work Hours/Shift:
Part Time
You Will Be Responsible For:
  • Provide pastoral care, spiritual and emotional support, to patients and families on designated clinical units as assigned by the Pastoral Care’s Senior Chaplain and to staff.
  • Serve as On Call Chaplain for after hours, weekends, holidays, or modified holidays, according to the on call schedule.
  • Minister to patients and families in crisis while maintaining their confidentiality.
  • Document all contacts with patients, family, medical staff, and staff.
  • Assist Senior Chaplain in needed duties to include; worship, funerals, other requested sacraments, serves on committees as requested, participates in staff meetings, and serves as liaison for area clergy. 
  • Increase knowledge and skills in ministry.
  • Function as part of the Pastoral Care staff as a team player within and outside of the department.
  • Represent Pastoral Care Department in an appropriate manner and effectively handles the responsibilities of Chaplain.
  • Participate as part of interdisciplinary team in daily rounding

What You Will Need:

  • Expertise in spiritual care: Active listening, ministry of presence, emotional support
  • Group facilitation; grief care
  • Intercede for trauma, death care, end of life care
  • Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Computer expertise: documents in Cerner efficiently and correctly, knowledge to use effectively Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • B.A. Degree (Theology or Religion).
  • A minimum of two units of Clinical Pastoral Education.
  • Ordination to the Gospel ministry, if permitted.
  • Ordination and/or licensure by the Adventist Chaplaincy Ministries or by an ecclesiastical body approved by the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.
Job Summary:

Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ is embodied through Pastoral Care.  The Chaplains are here to provide spiritual and emotional care to all in our gates; patients, families, caregivers, visitors, employees, physicians and Auxilians as needed and/or requested. Many experience trauma, fears, emotional and spiritual distress in the hospital.  Chaplains are part of the interdisciplinary teams and respond to patients through daily rounds, consults from nursing and physicians, and other staff needs in order to provide individualized and sensitive response to the needs.
