You Will Be Responsible For:

  1. Performs the job expectations of the Registered Nurse in his / her assigned care area.
  2. Demonstrates professionalism and leadership qualities
  3. Promotes on the job training of all staff members through coaching, mentoring and evaluation.
  4. Facilitates patient management and throughput by:
  5. Effectively manages the patient care area by promoting two-way communication.


What You Will Need:

  • Accurate documentation within the electronic medical record
  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency in clinical skills, and a professional bedside manner
  • Knowledgeable in assigned areas of patient care including health promotion and maintenance
  • Minimum of Diploma in Nursing
  • Minimum of One (1) year experience in area of assignment
  • Current Florida RN License
  • BLS – condition of employment
  • ACLS within 12 months of employment or transfer
  • NRP within 12 months of employment or transfer


    • BSN or MSN
    • Previous Charge RN/Leadership experience
    • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in area of assignment


Obstetrics (L&D, Post-partum & Nursery)

  • AWHONN Introduction to Fetal Monitoring within 12 months of employment or transfer
  • AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring within 24 months of employment or transfer
  • AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring within 36 months of employment or transfer

Job Summary:

The Charge Nurse is an RN assigned a specific unit who assists with responsibilities for the coordination of patient care using a multidisciplinary approach in accordance with the Hospital's Mission, physician, and patient expectations. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to policy implementation, giving input into staffing patterns, maintaining supplies and equipment, participating in process improvement projects and staff development programs to ensure delivery of quality care.  If the situation arises, the Charge Nurse self- assigns patients based on patient acuity, staffing mix and the ability to perform primary and secondary responsibilities of a Charge Nurse.
