Work Hours/Shift:

 Full Time Days

You Will Be Responsible For:

Accurately identify principal and secondary diagnosis/procedures for correct DRG assignment using ICD-10 CM codes and coding guidelines for all Inpatient accounts

Accurately identify all diagnosis, procedures, and assign modifiers appropriately for the specified outpatient accounts of:  Observation, Interventional Radiology, Cardiac procedures  

Ensure ethical coding practices are followed

Query physicians as necessary for additional documentation to support accurate coding and acuity/risk of mortality conditions

Abstract accurately specified data elements for data reporting

Maintain coding productivity standards as set by the HIM department

Complete coding within 2 days of discharge to support weekly and end of month billing cycles

Maintain a 95% coding accuracy rating

Utilize computer assisted coding software 80% of coding time 

Complete all CPA/Revenue Cycle work items within 48 hours of receipt

Assume responsibility for professional development by keeping current with all ICD-10 and CPT coding guideline rules and regulations (ICD-10 CM Official Guideline for Coding and Reporting, Coding Clinic)

Complete required AHS webinars within assigned time frame 

Other duties as assigned or requested

Qualifications

What You Will Need:

Completion of an accredited coding curriculum.

Experience in assigning ICD-10 diagnosis and procedure codes

2 years inpatient coding

RHIA or RHIT or CCS

Job Summary:

Responsible for the complete/accurate, timely coding and DRG assignment of all Inpatient accounts and complete/accurate, timely coding of specified Outpatient accounts to support the weekly and monthly billing cycle for the Southwest Region.
