Work Hours/Shift:

PRN (between 1-3 days a week depending on availability Monday-Thursday 8-4:30 with around 4-6 hours each day and Fridays would vary and could be covering 8 hour shifts); this is a PRN postion and no guaranteed Part Time or Full Time hours

You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Facilitates the registration of patients within the Radiation Oncology Department in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Successful completion of Florida Hospital Registration Training class (training will be provided post-hire, if not previously completed.)
  • Gathers complete and accurate demographic, billing and medical information using the patient/client interviews as the mechanism for securing the required information.
  • Guides patients with advanced directives.
  • Provides administrative support to assigned departments including but not limited to: scheduling meetings, receiving calls, taking messages, maintaining email and calendars, mail distribution, invoice submission to accounts payable, meeting and greeting patients and vendors.
  • Facilitates scheduling of patients requiring consultation and treatment within department including coordination/retrieval of necessary diagnostic exams, labs, etc.
  • Demonstrates good communication skills respectfully and is courteous when interacting with patients, co-workers, physicians, and colleagues within Radiation Oncology services.
  • Coordinates appointments with referring and/or consulted physicians for patients in Radiation Oncology.
  • Follows patient identification/verification process upon patient arrival for consultation.
  • Works closely with Insurance verification/authorization team to obtain proper authorization for patients.
  • Demonstrates care for one another by working all areas, open to change, sensitive to department needs, and effectively participates in conflict resolution/problem solving.
  • Resolves customer service issues in a timely and efficient manner treating all customers with courtesy. Communicates issues to manager.
  • Performs front office duties as assigned.
  • Other duties may be required of an administrative nature.
  • Efficient utilization of departmental supplies, forms, new patient information packets, and resources.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and compliance of Hospital guidelines and JCAHO regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains satisfactory participation in performance improvement activities to improve processes.
  • This individual will be open to a supervisor facilitating the coordination of his/her work to meet the ever-changing needs of the department/hospital.
Qualifications

What You Will Need:

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • 2 years secretarial/administrative experience
  • Strongly Preferred: Medical authorizations and Front Office Experience

Job Summary:

Performs a variety of administrative assistant duties to support the Radiation Oncology department. Responsible for assisting with front office operations including coordination of patient scheduling with physician and nursing schedule. Reception duties to include answering phone, patient greeting/arrival documentation, account verification, and scanning of patient information into EMR.  Will provide clerical support to the leadership staff including invoice coding/submission to accounts payable. Schedules, coordinates and maintains meetings/appointment calendar(s) as needed.
