Work Hours/Shift:

  • Full Time 8a – 5p, M- F

You Will Be Responsible For:    

  • Represents the Department to Senior Administration
  • Identifies appropriate community agency linkages for student learning experiences
  • Participates in student scholarly activities
  • Designs, coordinates, and implements program curriculum
  • Develops, designs, and delivers instruction in courses
  • Participates in student advising and mentorship
  • Actively engages in the institution’s committees as assigned by the President
  • Engages in the academic roles of teaching, service, scholarship, and research
  • Maintains of accreditation
  • Evaluates faculty performance and provides mentorship for continued professional growth

What You Will Need:
  • Academic Doctoral degree (PhD, EdD or equivalent)
  • Six years of full-time higher education experience (minimum of three years of full-time experience in a physical therapist education program)
  • Must hold the rank of associate professor or professor
  • Licensed in any United States jurisdiction as a physical therapist
  • Eligibility for current licensure in State of Florida as a physical therapist
  • Initially certified as a physical therapist through the NPTE
  • Membership in state and national associations (FPTA & APTA) (Preferred)
  • Board certification in a specialty practice area (Preferred)   
Job Summary:

Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. The Department Chair manages the program including hiring, managing the department’s budget, overseeing accreditation requirements, representing the department at the institution level, and providing mentorship and leadership to staff and faculty. The Department Chair develops, designs, and delivers instruction in courses as needed.  The Department Chair also participates in student advising and mentoring, and engages in the academic roles of teaching, service, scholarship, and research in balance with their administrative duties. The Department Chair reviews and assists with revisions as needed for department policies and procedures and identifies and recommends appropriate community agency linkages for student learning experiences.
