The role you’ll contribute:

Nutrition Associate 1 acts as customer service liaison between Nutrition Services, Nursing units, and patients with the focus of providing excellent customer service and outstanding patient care.  Nutrition Associates perform a variety of duties including but not limited to: food preparation; meal delivery; stocking/restocking of department supplies; sanitation functions; safe food handling; patient menu selections; cafeteria cashier.  Nutrition Associate 1 must be able to work accurately and efficiently on multiple tasks throughout the day and is capable of frequently switching tasks to focus on patient requests or other pressing customer service needs. 

The value you’ll bring to the team:

• Assuring that the meal tray matches the meal ticket for patient safety as well as identify and correct any errors.
• Uses sound judgement when acting as a steward for the department’s resources.
• Demonstrates proper use of the cash register/POS system and accurately completes cash transactions
• Practices good hand hygiene and demonstrates proper procedures when using single-use gloves.  Restrains hair when in food prep/service areas.
• Understands and adheres to all food safety/sanitation standards related to the position and reports any areas of concern to a supervisor/manager.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the food temperature danger zone.  Demonstrates knowledge of proper food storage including FIFO, labeling & dating of items, as well as when to discard food items for the purpose of safety
