You will be responsible For:
GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Director of Institute Service Lines of the Institute provides management and leadership to the entire continuum, serving as an expert resource to all AdventHealth Acute Care Services and Integrated Health Services, as it relates to the disease-specific service lines they oversee (Example: Gastroenterology, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Cardiovascular, Orthopedic, Neuroscience, etc.). In the Director has the   expectation of overseeing multiple service lines of increased complexity and scope, requiring multiple downward layers of management. The Director of Institute Service Lines acts as a formal and informal mentor to other leaders within the programs. They take on institute-wide initiatives which stretch their growth and support multiple service lines.

The Director of Institute Service Lines will serve as the definitive resource for service line needs within Central Florida Division, and be a resource for all AdventHealth. Works within a matrix management environment, working closely with Institute Leadership, Medical Staff, Industry Partners, and multidisciplinary teams to elevate performance of the program. The Director of Institute Service Lines will manage strategic planning, operational planning, program development, project deployment, accelerate innovation, and promote quality and safety in order to elevate the brand promise of AdventHealth. This will aid in attracting and retaining world class physicians, creating destination programs to improve care delivery and expand the network.

The Director of Institute Service Lines oversees projects made up of interdisciplinary teams and is ultimately responsible for coordinated performance improvement throughout the entire AdventHealth system. Individual service lines contain one or more specialty programs to address and elevate the entire continuum of care for patients using evidence-based practice. The Director of Institute Service Lines drive a team who is responsible for the execution on specialty program deliverables, service line initiatives, and organizational transformation by helping to identify gaps and remove barriers. Responsible for developing business plans or proformas that relate to specific new programs or market opportunities. Develops operational and resource requirements for new programs or opportunities and collaborates with others to successfully implement and monitor performance. The director provides adequate cross-checks for data accuracy and timely delivery of critical key performance metrics including financials, quality databases, strategic planning, regulatory requirements, and operational deployment of initiatives. The collective group of programs within each downward service line report up through a manager to the director. They have oversight and responsibility for multiple services lines and specialty programs related to the service line in a matrix management environment including service line managers, disease-specific specialty program coordinators, patient navigators, clinical resource nursing, education resources, residency coordinators, fellowship coordinators, data and quality abstractors, research professionals, marketing, and other integrated roles. National and international travel is expected to achieve understanding and enhance AdventHealth brand recognition on behalf of the program. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Demonstrates, through behavior, AdventHealth Orlando’s service standards.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:

•     Divisional leadership oversight of service line, initiatives, staff.

•     Collaborates with regional and multistate Advent Health Acute Care Services (ACS) and Integrated Health Services (IHS) to standardize care and develop destination care programs.

•     Collaboration with Private and Employed physicians to advance institute initiatives

•     Provides consultative services to AHS Division hospitals as requested.

•     Leverages the CIN to deliver clinical value, quality, and safety

•     Travel nationally and internationally to conferences and other facilities to gain deeper understanding of institute programs.

•     Directs multiple service lines, with disease-specific specialty programs, symposiums, Academic and Center of Excellence Programs, (to include case observations, continuing medical education events, and physician grand rounds), wet lab courses, cases, tours, etc., by working with the course medical leadership and downline managers to develop curriculum, put in grant requests to pay for events, markets events, and troubleshoots.

•     Responsible for multiple allocated budget (by department, per event)

•     Collaborates with Administration to select, on-board, and assess current and new physicians

•     Identifies service line opportunities and threats (identify gaps and barriers), and increases knowledge on new techniques and healthcare trends related to physicians and programs by attending meetings, conferences, training

events, reading publications, etc.

•     Oversight of multiple complex programs and projects, creating forums for project status reports with appropriate information in a timely and efficient manner. Will step in to identify and eliminate or escalate barriers for programs while helping to develop program measures to track deliverables as outlined each year.

•     Manages a healthy relationship between marketing and public relations and oversees continual

development of marketing, public relations, and branding materials for physicians, programs, and

website.

•     Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department or division.

COMPLIANCE/REGULATORY RESPONSIBILITY:

•     Demonstrates support of hospital and department policies, procedures, and guidelines to remain in accordance with requirements for employment, including, but not limited to: compliance policy and procedures, fire and safety regulations, hospital dress code.

•     Maintains accreditations with related professional boards and societies (American College of Surgeons, ACGME, for example)

•     Assists with assuring compliance and provides evidence of performance with DNV and other regulatory requirements for Surgical Services. Operationalizes and assures compliance with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Center for Disease and Prevention (CDC) and Patient Safety regulations at the service line level. Adheres to applicable practice standards that relate to their area of specialty.

•     Demonstrates support of hospital and department policies, procedures, and guidelines to remain in accordance with requirements for employment, including, but not limited to: compliance policy and procedures, fire and safety regulations, hospital dress code.

•     Assists with development of strategic (Call Coverage Contracts as an example) and joint venture (ASC JV & Lithotripsy as examples) initiatives in effort to redefine the care model, provide appropriate coverage, align patients to the appropriate care setting, with the lowest cost, highest quality, keeping them within their community, while engaging physicians and creating alignment to a shared vision. Prepares, organizes, executes, and provides relevant data and regular reporting and performance for call contracts, strategic & joint ventures.

•     Monitor that physician leaders and medical directors are creating value and meeting contractual arrangements, setting up and monitoring annual accountabilities, and providing for leadership growth.

 
OPERATING & CAPITAL BUDGET/FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY:

•     Assists in service line proformas, capital equipment planning, and supply chain management. Performs market analysis, monitors industry trends and researches the leading surgical and procedural opportunities for innovation and expansion of programs.

•     Prepares, executes, and monitors departmental operating budgets to ensure appropriate staffing, professional development, space, supplies, and all equipment necessary for maintaining and improving the quality of services provided to patients and stakeholders. Ensures that all departments operate within allocated budget.

•     Analyzes financial statements, manages financial resources, and educates team members on financial implications of patient care decisions. Reads and interprets benchmarking, financial, and occupancy data.

STRATEGIC PLANNING RESPONSIBILITY:

•     Provides strategic planning, budgeting, business development, goal setting, results measurement and contract negotiations

•     Develops and implements initiatives, processes, and systems, and creates goals that align with organizational and operational strategies, supporting organizational initiatives.

•     Utilizes organizational databases, decision support, and expert systems programs to access information and analyze data from various sources for use in planning and development of processes and systems supporting scope of practice.

•     Visit destination programs at partner facilities to understand the clinical and business opportunities that exist.

•     Encourage business growth and development by actively seeking out new opportunities to increase referrals, and market share. Work with marketing to create materials that represent the Neuroscience Institute and its service lines. Actively develop referral streams for outpatient services.

PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT RESPONSIBILITY:

•     Responsible for continually monitoring of service line Develops and implements strategies, programs and relationships for capturing a positive payor mix, profits maximization, clinical quality enhancements, customer satisfaction, staffing engagement and retention; human resource management and operations management.

•     Owns day-to-day oversight of interdepartmental, campus-wide, and system-wide initiatives to achieve improvements in clinical care processes, team engagement, patient experience, volume and financial performance.

•     Prepares service line level elements and logistics of major Institute meetings, such as Institute Operating Close, Integrated Health Services (IHS) Close, Market Development Meetings, Service Line Physician Meetings (Physician Operating Councils, Section meetings).

COMMUNITY RELATIONS RESPONSIBILITY:

•     Coordinates efforts to promote and provides information on the CREATION Health philosophy to the leaders and employees working in assigned departments.

•     Ensures that the programs offered within scope of responsibility, and as applicable, are properly communicated in the community.

STAFFING/LABOR/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

•     Participates in workforce planning and employment decisions, champions a diverse workforce, interprets and evaluates employee satisfaction and quality of work surveys, taking action as needed to ensure a positive outcome.

•     Identifies employment requirements, functions, tasks and job specifications for positions within reporting structure rollup. Assesses job candidates’ skills and experience, and selects top talent in accordance with needs. Identifies future skill sets needed to maintain organizational competitiveness. Ensures appropriate orientation for new staff and appropriate methodologies for ongoing competency assessment of staff. Monitors and ensures timely completion of  performance evaluations, sets goals, and provides feedback and counseling to employees.

•     Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Nursing, or Healthcare related field

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

•     Three (3) years of healthcare leadership experience

•     Five (5) years of experience in the healthcare, hospital, or physician private practice field

•     Multi-specialty exposure experience
