Work Hours/Shift:

You Will Be Responsible For:
  • Monitors and ensures standards are maintained as outlined by Kansas Health Department licensing.

  • Maintains current knowledge of teaching methodology and trends in Early Childhood Education through continuing education, journals and professional association.

  • Coordinates professional development training programs to meet the needs of all areas of the program.

  • Orientates new associates to the program, its purpose, policies, and philosophy.

  • Reviews lesson plans and monthly goals to follow accreditation criteria.

  • Effectively translates hospital mission, vision and strategy into a compelling and clear vision for the department.

  • Develops departmental goals and to measures support of the hospital’s strategic plan.

  • Ensures adherence to Corporate Integrity Plan for self and staff.

  • Ensures compliance with AdventHealth Shawnee Mission policies related to employment law and liability.

  • Demonstrates a willingness to learn, to excel, and to support the early learning program in its goal to provide quality and efficient early learning program service to the employees of AdventHealth Shawnee Mission.

  • Assists with physician recruitment as needed.

  • Designs programs to effectively manage risk while incorporating the highest ethical standards.

  • Assures appropriate associate scripting interaction with customers.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of financial practices and procedures, establishing annual budget, and manages department accordingly.

  • Incorporates physician, customer needs and concerns into decision-making and organizational action.

  • Effectively markets, recruits, interviews, and hires highly competent associates that reflect the Advent health Shawnee Mission culture.

  • Collaborates effectively across departments.

  • Explores creative means to provide greater quality of service while functioning within budgetary guidelines.

  • Develops departmental goals and measures to support the hospital’s strategic plan.

  • Demonstrates a willingness to learn, to excel, and to support Early Learning in its goal to provide quality and efficient childcare service to the employees of AdventHealth Shawnee Mission.

  • Demonstrates evidence of sufficient security and judgment to handle crisis situations.

  • Organizes and prioritizes work assignments and demonstrates flexibility to accommodate the following: changing work environment, high acuity, high census and/or sudden emergencies to meet organization needs.

  • Demonstrates ability to discuss own philosophy of discipline, methods of discipline and can communicate this to the early learning program teachers and volunteers.

  • Communicates frequently with staff through informal and formal process, e.g., staff meetings, newsletters and rounding.

  • Applies a systematic approach to measuring, analyzing, and managing variations that affect safety.

  • Performs rounding of children and associates

  • Takes responsibility for making difficult or unpopular decisions, e.g., terminating poorly performing staff, eliminating a department resource to improve efficiency.

  • Acknowledges when a decision or plan is not working rather than making excuses or blaming others.

  • Develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services.

  • Champions NAEYC Accreditation to teams working to meet requirements.

  • Creates an environment supportive of student affiliation as local schools may need to utilize us for their students’ educational training and observations.

  • Analyzes root causes of department problems using data, as available, when taking corrective action.

  • Identifies and implements effective and innovative solutions to departmental problems.

  • Provides mechanism for associate involvement and knowledge of quality improvement process.

  • Applies a systematic approach to measuring, analyzing, and managing variations that affect safety.

  • Assists Team Leaders in developing processes for monitoring and meeting annual goals.

  • Gives people the authority, resources and guidance to make decisions and implement them.

  • Facilitates the identification and acquisition of equipment necessary to the delivery of care/services.

  • Assures appropriate supply management within department.

What You Will Need:

•     Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood or related field

•     Minimum of 1 to 2 Years of Position-Related Experience

•     Kansas Department of Health and Environment Program Director Certification

Job Summary:

Responsible for general supervision and operation of the program. Promotes professional growth for all teachers and staff, management of the educational program and ensuring compliance of local and state policies and procedures, conducts staff meetings, staff training, budget and productivity assessment, personnel issues and strategic planning
