You Will Be Responsible For:

Negotiation

  • Responsible for managing all aspects of contract management system for employed providers, leases and other types of agreements within the AHMG
  • West Florida Division. 
  • Coordinates with senior management in making recommendation and implementing new contracts, or changes in existing contracts, and the termination of contracts.
  • Collaboratively works together with senior management in regard to final parameters of contracts to include contract management and other internal departments to identify issues before and during negotiations on specific parameters or limitations of contracts, such as operational issues, etc.
  • Communicating and coordinating with incoming physicians, AHS staff and hospital medical staff offices on behalf of the employed physicians within the AHMG West Florida Division. 

Systems

  • Responsible for the overall accuracy and timeliness of contracting systems for employed or contracted physician groups as appropriate. 
  • Requires proficiency in research and retrieval of contract information from multiple systems. 
  • Responsible for accurate updates of assigned contract information on Contract Management list.

Communication

  • Effectively communicates with staff, leadership, providers, patients, and visitors.
  • Clearly and successfully represents self and this organization in a professional, courteous manner.  
  • Leads in meetings as assigned or requested. Schedules, coordinates, participates, and/or leads meetings with, hospital staff and leadership, physician groups, and other related entities.
  • During negotiations of contract, works with Medical Group administration, and other internal departments to identify issues on specific parameters or limitations of contracts, such as operational, etc.
  • Facilitates communications between hospital leadership for the purpose of streamlining
  • operations among AHMG West Florida Division employed physician group.
  • Updates departmental staff to promote communication on current issues, contract changes, and physician and facility information.

Support

  • Supports the overall mission of AHS and the role of the AHMG West Florida Division department in that mission. 
  • Demonstrates an eagerness to assist co-workers in the completion of tasks as needed. 
  • Performs special projects and tasks as requested by senior staff and leadership.
  • Supports the contracting team, internal departments, and physician groups to assist with, identify, and resolve operational issues.
  • Supports the financial goals and viability of the entities and organizations by contracting appropriate rates and agreements in accordance with AHS directives and market standards for the overall financial success of the AHMG West Florida Division employed physician group.
  • Supports all aspects of gathering due diligence information for all transactions such as acquisitions and other related business transactions.

Regional Representation

  • Responsible for regional physician group for the purpose of identifying and developing contracting strategies and be able to discuss the strategic plan with regional physician groups leadership. 
  • Must be knowledgeable and able to discuss regional physician groups financial initiatives with leadership.
Qualifications

  • Strong management and leadership skills
  • Excellent quantitative, verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Financial analysis and Spreadsheet experience
  • Extensive provider contracting knowledge

Job Summary:

This leadership position is responsible for all AHS physician payer contracting and payer relationships in the State of Florida, which includes contract negotiations for all physician groups owned and operated under AHS as well as all provider-based physician organizations under the twenty-three hospitals under AHS Florida Division.  AHS affiliated physicians include over 800 physicians representing over twenty different specialties and sub-specialty disciplines from primary care physicians to bariatric surgeons and neurosurgeons. 

This leadership position will be responsible for a physician team of currently 10 individuals that manage physician payer contracts and negotiate payer contracts in each of the regional markets in a manner consistent with the Florida Division strategic direction and plan.  This position will lead physician enterprise initiatives related to managed care including but not limited to the development of new and innovative payer relationships.

This leadership position is expected to oversee and manage the business relationships for each payer and advances AHS strategic and tactical objectives with each payer.  This position will actively participate in leadership activities in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
