Work Hours/Shift:

Full Time Day Hours (no weekends, no holidays)

You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Coordinates and participates in the establishment, review, and implementation of health & safety policies and procedures. 
  • Implements communicable disease control in the school, including monitoring, surveillance, documentation, and participating in disease prevention and outbreak management within the school.
  • Serves as the health care consultant for school personnel, students, and their parents/families.
  • Responsible for ensuring appropriate medical supplies are available
  • Injury prevention: indoor and outdoor play equipment and play spaces.
  • Assesses children who are potentially ill and determines whether child should be excluded.
  • Provides medication administration and training along with other necessary medical procedures
  • Provides a temporary holding area for sick children until parent picks-up.
  • Makes policy changes and/or recommendations to the Director/Assistant Directors.
  • Handles communications & processes regarding communicable diseases.
  • Liaison between KDHE, AdventHealth SM Infection Prevention, Employee Health, Early Learning, and Britain Development.
  • Tracks and enters child immunizations, communicating with parents when immunizations are not current.
  • Responsible for documenting illness, and monitoring trends, and reporting as needed.
  • Works with classrooms to ensure medical/allergy information is accurate, current and processes are being followed.
  • Works with the staff to support the needs of children with individualized health care plans (IHP) and assure that delegation is working safely and effectively (i.e., diabetic, seizures, allergic reactions).
  • Retains responsibility for overall health & safety regulations
  • Review incident reports, assist with critical incident reporting, advises leadership team regarding policies and procedures around incidents
  • Provide education and resources to team members and parents related to health, safety, and well-being of children.
  • Recognizes signs of child abuse and reports to the Director and Assistant Directors.
  • Maintains current knowledge of teaching methodology and trends in Early Childhood Education through continuing education, journals and professional association.
Qualifications

What You Will Need:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing

• 2 to 5 Years of Position-Related Experience

  • Kansas Registered Nurse State License
  • Healthcare Provider CPR
  • First Aid certification

Job Summary:

The Early Childhood Nurse is responsible for the oversight and implementation of health and safety policies and procedures for the children served by the Britain Development and Early Learning programs at the B.E. Smith Family Center
