Work Hours/Shift:

12 hour shifts
You Will Be Responsible For:


  • Adheres to AdventHealth’s corporate responsibility code.
  • Delivers patient care as directed by the RN or physician to provide safe and effective patient care by performing technical skills and tasks within hospital and/or department guidelines.
  • Communicates with RN and physician regarding patient/family observations in an ongoing fashion to assist in the treatment of patients.
  • Performs variety of technical tasks competently bases on unit competencies which may include but not limited to: Point of Care lab tests, Phlebotomy, for laboratory specimens- IV or straight draw, 12 lead EKG recording, IV insertion for adults, Assist with placing patients on monitoring devices and recording vital signs, Foley cath insertion-gender specific, Straight Cath insertion for adults- gender specific, Ortho splinting, Crutch Training, Wound care and dressing, Patient transport, Ocular irrigations with Morgan lens.
  • Sets up for and Assists providers with sterile procedures such as suturing or central line placement.
  • Collaborates with nursing, through delegation, regarding plan of care, follow-up, and evaluation for the patient and family.
  • Communicates with colleagues and allied personnel regarding patient care to maintain continuity of care between departments and care providers.
  • Serves as patient advocate.
  • Communicates patient information by informing primary nurses of any abnormal or untoward finding during assigned duties.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Will Need:
  • Graduated from accredited school offering certification as EMT-B
  • Graduate of accredited school offering certification as EMT-B
  • Current EMT-B registration in the state of Kansas
  • Current IV certification
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or RQI upon hire
Job Summary:

Reports to the Director of Emergency and is responsible for responding to requests by the nursing staff to assist with clinical interventions and to assist with emergency care within the emergency department according to protocols and polices approved by the hospital and emergency department medical director, and hospital policy. Performs other duties related to the provision of care as assigned after appropriate training.
