Faculty Physical Therapy – AdventHealth University
Location Address: 671 Winyah Dr, Orlando, FL 3280

Work Hours/Shift: Full Time, Monday – Friday, daytime hours  
You Will Be Responsible For:
Demonstrates behaviors at AdventHealth University in harmony with the “Four Words” Nurture, Excellence, Spirituality, and Stewardship
  • Effectively communicate with all internal and external stakeholders (e.g. – university administration, faculty, staff, students, program advisory board members, etc.)
  • Provide course syllabi for instruction.
  • Develop, design and deliver course content according to workload
  • Formulate and administer student assessment
  • Collaborate with adjunct faculty members to ensure cohesive student instruction and assessment
  • Participate in Student Advising and Mentoring; communicate office hour availability to students and respond to emails within 1-2 business days when classes are actively in session
  • Evaluate student performance and provide appropriate feedback to facilitate continued academic and professional growth
  • Document areas of concern, create plans for remediation, and guide students in achieving expectations
  • Engage in the academic roles of teaching, service, scholarly activity, and mentorship
  • Complete self- and peer-assessment of teaching for ongoing professional growth; this includes the Annual Faculty Development Plan
  • Review department policies and procedures and assist with revisions when indicated
  • Identify and promote community engagement
  • Participate in University committee work as assigned
  • Evaluates learning resources such as reference material, audio/visual aids, computer assisted learning programs, and library acquisitions
  • Faculty who are physical therapists are expected to be APTA members and adhere to professional standards delineated by the Code of Ethics and Core Values, serving as strong role of models to students and colleagues
  • Comply with all federal, university, and program policies and procedures

What You Will Need:
  • Earned academic doctorate from a regionally-accredited academic institution, OR an earned clinical doctorate (DPT) with board specialty certification in area related to teaching content. 
  • At least four years of effective university-level teaching as an assistant professor.
  • At least two peer reviewed publications while at the rank of Assistant Professor. The applicant shall be the principal author of at least one of the publications. Acceptable publications, such as journal articles, books, and book chapters, shall be published in periodicals or venues recognized by the appropriate academic or professional organizations at the national level and/or professional accrediting associations.

The Associate Professor is considered a senior member of the University faculty and serves as a respected mentor to colleagues and students.  Appointment as an Associate Professor signifies sustained excellence as an educator, competence as a scholar, and recognition in professional service.  The Associate Professor provides excellent quality education to students, positively contributes to the department, university, and profession, and demonstrates leadership in the physical therapy and healthcare community. Duties encompass curricular development and assessment, student advisement, and shared governance.
