You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Hires, trains, evaluates and manages all float staff.  Collaborates and maintains relationship with the team to ensure appropriate training and development for float pool staff.  Ensures employees complete appropriate training based on job class.
  • Coordinates the filling of positions temporarily unoccupied. (i.e. Unoccupied by staff who are ill, on LOA, vacation or training leaves. May be asked to assist with call-outs.)
  • Collaborates with hiring managers and Talent Acquisition to prepare staffing strategy for existing and future needs.
  • Assist with evaluation of existing hiring needs across the AdventHealth Medical Group (AHMG) practices and prepares staffing plan to accomplish goals.
  • Coordinates rapid hiring process for all MA positions; interview, hiring, placement.  
  • Coordinates interviews with centralized interview team and works with Talent Acquisition on offers for selected MA’s.
  • Coordinates new MA hires through the buddy-system on-boarding process.
  • Coordinates with hiring managers to place rapid-hire MA’s into practices with open positions.  Works with hiring manager though the trial period.  Hand-off MA’s who successfully complete trial period to hiring practice or replaces MA into another hiring practice to begin a new trial period.
  • Ensures compliance with organization’s staffing policies as well as all policies and procedures.
  • May travel locally 25-50% of time to determine performance or float pool staffing needs



What You Will Need:

  • Associate degree and two (2) or more years of experience in a healthcare practice or supervision, or
  • High School degree and four (4) or more years of experience in a healthcare practice
  • Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations, and procedures to administer patient care
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe working environment
  • Excellent communicator in all formats
  • Knowledge of human resources management techniques, principles, and practices
  • Knowledge of computer programs and applications.  
  • Skill in exercising a high degree or initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision-making to achieve organization objectives. 
  • Skill in analyzing situations accurately and taking effective action.
  • Ability to act independently and be self-motivated.

Job Summary:

The Float Pool Manager reporting to the AHMG Business Line Director, is responsible for every aspect of managing the float staff to meet the interim needs of cost centers including hiring, training, managing, evaluations and termination.  This position may coordinate or oversee the deployment of all float staff to ensure the filling of positions temporarily unoccupied and is responsible for creating tactical and strategic plans to address interim staffing needs.  Using their knowledge and experience, the Float Pool Manager ensures that float staff are fully qualified, trained and meet the highest AHMG standards.  This role will also be the coordinator for rapid and centralized MA hiring process for as long as that program exists.
