Work Hours/Shift: Full Time Days

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The primary role of the Operational Excellence Specialist is to support the West Florida Division Department of Operational Excellence. Under the direction of department leadership, the position is responsible for assisting in identifying new projects and initiatives designed to improve efficiency and/or achieve cost savings across the West Florida Division. Maintains qualitative/quantitative reports, dashboards, and PowerPoint presentations to support departmental initiatives and activities. Ensures that assigned data/reports are distributed timely and accurate data is presented in a format that can be readily used to monitor/improve performance. Prepares materials and participates at relevant meetings with divisional and hospital leadership. 
 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Working in conjunction with departmental and hospital leadership, identifies areas of opportunity for improvement. Performs qualitative and quantitative analysis to support recommendations.
  • Serves as project coordinator for assigned initiatives.  Manages assigned projects from discovery phase through implementation under the directions of his/hers superior.
  • Applies statistical techniques, data mining and direct observations to evaluate processes and performance.
  • Conducts research as required to successfully complete assigned projects. Collects data to support value-add improvements and outcomes, operational efficiencies and/or improved financial performance. Maintains meaningful and impactful analyses and tracking metrics based on collected data.
  • Prepares various reports, dashboards and PowerPoint presentations to effectively communicate initiates to appropriate leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Supports annual fiscal budgeting process and planning in operational expense management by integrating internal and external best practices and divisional cost saving initiatives. 
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Excellent analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Power Point, and Word.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple projects and assignments.
  • Ability to work with data that is of sensitive and confidential nature.
  • Knowledge or exposure to the application of statistical analyses, predictive modeling and their practical application to improvement projects.
  • Demonstrates interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
  • Working knowledge of or ability to learn and work with appropriate Joint Commission standards and AHCA/CMS regulations and information.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or healthcare-related field
  • Minimum one to three years’ experience in business, finance or healthcare-related field.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s degree in healthcare administration, business, finance or healthcare-related field
  • At least three years’ experience in business, finance or healthcare-related field.
  • Experience in healthcare analyitics
  • Project management experience
  • Process management experience

  • The Operational Excellence Specialist represents the West Florida Region, physically located in the West Florida Region/Tampa Bay area and reports to the West Florida Division Region Administration.  This individual maintains and exemplifies the highest professional manner at all times.
