GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under the general direction of the Director of Quality Services and in conjunction with the Medical Staff and Administration, the Manager of Quality Services facilitates, organizes, implements and evaluates the system of quality initiatives to meet the goals of AdventHealth Sebring and AdventHealth Wauchula.  The Manager of Quality Services is responsible ensuring the organization meet requirements for entities such as The Joint Commission, Agency for Healthcare Administration, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and other Federal, State and local regulatory/or accrediting agencies.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages processes related quality measures reporting, including CMS Hospital Quality Reporting, The Joint Commission, and National Healthcare Safety Network measures.
  • Serves as primary or secondary contact for Premier Inc., Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, The Joint Commission, and other partners in improvement and accreditation activities.
  • Acts as internal consultant to the Medical Staff, Administration, all Clinical and Ancillary Departments regarding quality improvement processes.
  • Analyzes, interprets, trends quality-related data and partners with department leaders to develop plans to improve.
  • Provides orientation and ongoing education for employees, medical staff, volunteers and other partners on quality assurance, performance improvement and patient safety.
  • Collaborate with Risk Management to develop and implement plans that support patient safety initiatives.
  • Uses available resources to provide guidance in Quality, Safety, and Performance Improvement initiatives to Medical Staff, Administration, all Clinical and Ancillary Departments.
  • Facilitates inter/intradepartmental participation in quality improvement teams.
  • Oversees the QAPI/Patient Safety and Infection Control plans, ensuring they are reviewed/revised annually (or more frequently as needed).
  • Participates in accomplishing the Clinical Excellence and Strategic Aspirations identified by the organization.
  • Participates in Performance Improvement team formation and facilitation.
  • Performs individual case review and root-cause analysis in conjunction with clinicians as requested.
  • Utilizes clinical information systems to provide outcomes management data to support the overall quality program.
  • Manages and oversees the work of assigned direct reports in the Quality department.
  • Communicates information received from management meetings to staff.
  • Provides recommendations to modify and/or improve processes within the department.
  • Serve on various patient safety, performance, regulatory and accreditation committees.
  • Pursues educational opportunities for professional growth.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Excellent communication/motivational skills, including the ability to present information to both large and small groups.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency with commonly used office productivity and collaboration software, such as MS Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel) and MS Teams.
  • Strong professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, diplomacy, tact, conflict management, and delegation skills required for effective and creative leadership in working with all levels of the organization including physicians, committees, and leadership, as well as patients and their families.
  • Able to communicate effectively with outside agencies and regulators.
  • Human Resources Management: Effectively hire, coach/develop staff, manage resources, manage employee relations, and supervise within established policies and procedures.
  • Able to work and perform duties with minimum amount of supervision.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:

    • Knowledge of RCA2 (Root Cause Analysis and Action) or HFACS-RCA (Human Factors Analysis Classification System)
    • Working knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records, preferably Cerner or Epic.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Two (2) or more years of experience in healthcare quality improvement or infection prevention -or- three (3) or more years of leadership experience in non-healthcare performance improvement.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in any field.
