Description
Surgical Technologist assists in preparation of the operating room by selecting and opening sterile supplies and surgical instrumentation.  Preoperative tasks include assembling, adjusting and checking sterile equipment.  Intra-operatively all scrubbing duties are performed in a competent and proficient manner with the ability to prioritize scrubbing duties, to the needs of the surgeon and patient.  Assists Clinical Coordinator with new employee orientation and learning experiences for surgical technologist students.  Assists other member of the team in preparing the operating room for the next case.  Assists and may be assigned to other areas of the department/hospital as needed. Able to work in stressful conditions.  Ability to relate well with patients, physicians, visitors, hospital staff and regulatory bodies.  Demonstrates good judgment and excellent clinical skills.  Able to prioritize, organize and use time efficiently and wisely.  Able to adjust to changes and implement changes with a positive attitude and support policies, procedures and service excellence standards.  Exhibits dependability, reliability and functions independently in crisis situations in a calm manner.  Acts as a preceptor or resource person as needed.  No limitations on standing, lifting 40 pounds, bending and walking, ability to work in wet/moist, cold/hot environment. Able to perform repetitive motions with right and left hands and arms.

Qualifications
High School graduate or GED. 
Graduate of an accredited vocational training as Certified Surgical Technologist. 
Certification as a Surgical Scrub Tech preferred.
Current BLS certification required (Must be approved by American Heart Association)
