Work Hours/Shift:

Full Time

 

You will be responsible for:

•       Serve a s a subject matter expert for MDS related issues

o   Advise management as needed on MDS topics and strategies

o   Respond to questions from facility and regional personnel

•       Assist with monitoring each facility’s MDS assessments for inaccuracies, errors, ADL issues, missed revenue, etc.

o   Assist MDS coordinators with their MDS reports in the electronic record (batching, unbatching, locking, unlocking, accepting, schedule corrections, etc.

•       Assist in evaluating and assessing the competencies of MDS coordinators including but not limited to clinical knowledge, organizational skills, communication skills, and understanding of MDS impact on revenue

o   Use certain criteria, testing, and judgment to determine coordinators performing at a high level, those that need, and low performers

o   Help facilities identify and develop internal staff interested in being MDS coordinators

o   Advise and assist facilities on staffing changes, recruiting, and interviewing functions

•       Assist in providing training to MDS coordinators

o   Completing basic job requirements effectively and efficiently

o   Share best practices found by other coordinators

o   Assist MDS coordinators

o   Implement updates to MDS, ICD, and Quality Measures

o   Evaluate new software tools, as it relates to MDS, ICD, and Quality Measures

o   Assist facility to optimize revenue

o   Assist MDS coordinator training

•       Assist facilities with responding to additional documentation requests

•       Educate facility staff regarding monitoring level of care

•       Assist in monitoring accurate completion of non-coverage notices



Qualifications

What will you need?

  • Associate Degree or higher

  • Current Registered Nurse licensure

  • 5 years prior experience preferred

Job Summary

The Senior Clinical Reimbursement Specialist will be responsible for the oversight and monitoring of the Minimum Data Set (MDS) process.  They will work on assessing and evaluating the MDS staff.  They will provide education and training to the MDS staff.  This position monitors Case Mix/Managed Care, Medicare caseload, and Quality Measures.
