You Will Be Responsible For:

Demonstrates behaviors at Adventist University of Health Sciences in harmony with the “Four Words” Nurture, Excellence, Spirituality, and Stewardship.

  • Cleans the kitchen daily in preparation for the day’s meals
  • Adheres to all kitchen sanitation, safety, cleanliness and food storage standards
  • Monitors and records product temperatures and holding times as appropriate
  • Performs all food preparation, i.e., chopping, mixing for the day’s specials
  • Cooks and bakes food orders according to recipe specification and proper procedures
  • Utilizes cost-conscious behaviors in all aspects of food preparation
  • Takes inventory of supplies
  • Oversees and assigns daily tasks to student workers doing the meal preparations
  • Develops and writes recipes for NESS Café’ meals

Qualifications

What You Will Need:

Required:
  • Strong organization skills
  • Ability to structure a healthy work environment
  • Ability to read, write and speak English well to effectively communicate and interact with internal and external customers
  • Ability to follow, read and write recipes as needed
Preferred:
  • Food Service line cook or lead cook experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Serve Safe certification
 
Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Café/Bookstore Manager, the Kitchen Coordinator is responsible for preparation of all food and related items for the Café.  Ensures all food production is produced according to recipe specifications and proper procedures.  Ensures all products meet standards for quality, taste, appearance and freshness. Records product temperatures and monitors holding times as appropriate.   Meets all production deadlines and is cost-conscious in all aspects.  Adheres to all sanitation, safety, cleanliness and food storage standards.  Assists with serving customers and provides world-class customer service.  Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
