The role you’ll contribute:

The Manager of Education & Training is responsible for oversight, direction and implementation of system-wide education, orientation, competency, and specialty training for the organizations home-based service lines (home care and hospice agencies). 

This manager will work with system-wide resources to coordinate learning activities related to annual requirements, role-specific needs and ad-hoc educational needs that are identified through internal or external audits or surveys.

Responsibilities include working with local education leaders to facilitate an efficient and effective onboarding experience for new field staff; program development initiatives related to education and competencies needed for implementation of new programs and best practices; education related to clinical practice documentation and use of EMR for improving quality outcomes and reducing hospitalization.

The individual must be able to function with a high degree of independence and considerable discretion as work may be completed onsite or remotely.

  • Facilitate an effective onboarding experience for new field staff that includes the development and implementation of a preceptor program
  • Design and implement education programs for specific organizational initiatives that address deficits identified through audits or surveys; best practices and specialty programs as needed, to improve quality outcomes and patient experience
  • Create and manage knowledge tracks as needed in education software programs and maintain accurate employee database where applicable
  • Promote professional excellence by supporting growth of clinical staff through development and implementation of a clinical ladder program.
  • Demonstrate the ability to influence work outcomes through others while maximizing opportunities for standardization and integration of best practices within the organization.
  • Work with agencies to ensure competency of field clinicians.  Ensure documentation of competency meets all regulatory requirements.
  • Lead projects and service line specific or organization wide initiatives as assigned
  • Develop, mentor, and coach staff to confirm and increase staff competency, and ensure competent staff are available to meet service needs.
  • Participate in planning for changes in staffing levels and expertise based on possible changes to regulatory reporting and compliance expectations. Identify succession planning needs and candidates and encourage staff preparedness for taking on new responsibilities.
  • Effectively communicates departmental, and organizational information to staff.  Communication captures and holds audience’s attention and stimulates others to action.
  • Achieves desired operational results through effective and strategic leadership, including identifying and implementing needed process and program changes.  Encourages staff to seek opportunities for different and innovative approaches to address problems and opportunities and facilitates the implementation and acceptance of change in the workplace.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:


  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from an accredited school of professional nursing
  • RN License
  • Will consider extensive experience in clinical education, preceptorships, development of education programs and structures in lieu of Master’s degree.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in educational program management, performing training use and needs analysis, implementing training interventions, and measuring results.
  • Two (2) years home health experience in the last five years


  • Masters level education in related field
  • One year leadership experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in a role utilizing highly effective communication and presentation skills, prioritization skills, group facilitation, team building and staff development.
  • Excellent understanding of homecare regulations, Medicare Conditions of Participation, OASIS
