AdventHealth Shawnee Mission is seeking a full-time ( M-F 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.) Medical Assistant  to join our Employee Health Team. This is a new, exciting opportunity for an experienced, customer oriented individual. $2,000 sign on bonus and new minimum hiring rate organization wide of $15 per hour. The MA/ LPN in Employee Health will be responsible for assisting our Nurse Practitioners with New Hire Physicals. Must hold a current KS license or certification as well as American Heart Association BLS. Some duties will include:

  • Greeting new hires to AdventHealth
  • Assisting with employment and EH paperwork
  • Administering injections
  • Performing fit testing
  • Taking height, weight
  • Drawing blood samples (training provided)
  • Conducting vision screens

Work Hours/Shift:

Full time Days

Monday – Friday

8:00AM – 4:30 PM


What You Will Need:

  • Graduate of accredited medical assistant program
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  1. Must be currently certified and maintain certification by one of the following:
  • American Association of Medical Assistants (“AAMA”) for Certified Medical Assistants
  • American Medical Certification Association (“AMCA”) for Clinical Medical Assistant Certification
  • American Medical Technologists (“AMT”) for Registered Medical Assistant
  • National Association for Health Professionals (“NAHP”) for Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant
  • National Center for Competency Testing (“NCCT”) for National Certified Medical Assistant
  • National Health Career Association (“NHA”) for Registered Clinical Medical Assistant

  1. BLS obtained through the American Heart Association
  2. Continued maintenance of BAT certification after hire
  3. Continued maintenance of Drug Screen Certification after hire


Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Providers and Employee Health Manager, the Medical Assistant cares for patients and performs a wide variety of patient care activities.  Adheres to state, federal and organizational guidelines to ensure quality care and patient safety with support from the Clinical Excellence team. Is essential in maintaining organization and facilitating patient flow. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

The Medical Assistant will assist the provider in the delivery of medical care to clinic patients.  Maintain high customer service skills with all patient interactions.   Must possess computer skills necessary to document patient information in E.M.R. in accordance to protocols and guidelines established, communicated and trained.  Performs phlebotomy draws.
