You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Serves as a Professional role model as well as a resource person who provides guidance and support when required/needed.
  • Builds relationships with state colleges and universities to bring student nurses to AdventHealth Sebring to complete clinical rotations, preceptorships and ultimately hired as a Registered Nurse at one of the AdventHealth Sebring or AdventHealth Wauchula facilities.  (i.e. – attends events with the nursing students, makes regularly scheduled visits with nursing students, etc.).
  • Prepares and submits a 3 to 6-month training/educational plan to the Clinical Education Manager for newly licensed,  transitional nurses and/or International Recruits hired each month.  This plan is for all newly licensed nurses, transitional nurses and International Recruits hired and will include, however not be limited to, finding and presenting resources pertinent to the new nurse, arranging content experts to present best practice and emerging trends specific to nursing, shadowing the new nurse on unit, meeting with preceptor to determine strengths and areas of improvement, arranges follow up meetings to determine how successful the nurse is.
  • Assist new nurses, along with their department leaders, to identify their learning needs, strengths and limitations and coordinates learning opportunities to build on strengths and overcome limitations.
  • Teaches content as needed and/or assigned within clinical expertise to facilitate staff development and/or safe practice.

What You Will Need:

  • Minimum of five  years’ experience as a staff nurse in an acute care setting
  • Ability to function well with a diverse community and employee population 
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office suites products (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
  • Bachelor degree in Nursing
  • Florida Registered Nurse license
  • Basic Life Support

Job Summary:

The Nurse Development Manager provides staff development expertise as an educator,

consultant, facilitator, change agent, recruiter, leader and facilitator for nurses (new grads and/or

transitional nurses who are new to acute care) at AdventHealth Sebring.   This role

fosters relationships with state colleges and universities to support student nurses in their clinical rotation,

preceptorships, hiring for bedside nursing and the first 12 months of their employment.   In addition to

new graduates, the Nurse Development Manager ensures a successful transition of nurses hired that are

new to the acute care setting.
