Work Hours/Shift:

PRN, Day Shift (10 hour shifts from 7:00am to 5:00pm. Rotational schedule. No weekends or holidays)

You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Has primary responsibility for answering the telephone in a prompt and courteous manner, following established policies and procedures, identifying self.
  • Schedules, cancels, reschedules, etc., appointments per patient and physician request.
  • Is responsible for check-in and check-out of patients.
  • Confirms, adds, deletes, or makes any changes patient’s insurance and/or personal information in Scheduling Software and EMR to ensure accuracy.
  • Verifies authorization for all office visits and sets appoint authorization status in EMR.
  • Collects co-pays for treatment and procedures such as CT Scans, MRI’s, PET Scans, etc., enters payment amount into computer, and issues receipt to patient if applicable.
  • Takes incoming new patient referrals and schedules appointments as appropriate.
  • Calls patients to confirm next day’s appointments.  Leaves appropriate messages if unable to reach patient and updates that information into scheduling software.
  • Reviews coverage and explains specific patient responsibilities such as deductibles, co-pays, etc. to the patient.  All information verified in writing to the patient.
  • Develops payment plans including self-pay contracts and time payment agreements, based on patient’s ability to pay, for patients referred from physicians and/or self-referrals.
  • Verifies proper authorizations from insurance companies for the initial visit, follow up visits, chemotherapy visits, radiation visits and injections visits.
  • Processes requests for medical records and information, as assigned, in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

What You Will Need:

  • Associates degree required, or equivalent related experience.
  • Two years’ experience in a physician practice, healthcare or hospital-based office.
  •  Must have knowledge of TJC requirements and local, state, and federal regulations. 

Job Summary:

The Oncology Office Coordinator is responsible for planning, controlling, organizing, and directing the day-to-day operations and activities of the oncology front office.
