You Will Be Responsible For:
  • Meets with patient/support partner(s) prior to scheduled surgery to provide education on surgical procedure, post-operative expectations and care needs.

  • Collaborates with direct care staff to provide ongoing education for surgical procedures, evidenced-based practice and/or research developments.

  • Initiates discharge planning and provides education on post-discharge care resources and supplies.

  • Follows patients throughout surgical experience, performs daily rounding to ensure continued communication with patient, staff and provider

  • Collaborates with existing community organizations on educational initiatives.


Qualifications
What You Will Need:
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
  • At least 2 years of recent nursing experience in orthopedic care
  • Current BLS certification
  • Professional certification in specialty are by recognized national nursing organization within 1 year of hire
  • Current Registered Nurse licensure in the state of North Carolina
 
Job Summary:

The Orthopedic Nurse Navigator is a specialized health care professional who guides specific surgical patients through the healthcare system during and surrounding the time of surgery. The Navigator will focus on these five areas: patient/support partner(s) and healthcare provider education, quality management, clinical services, community outreach and program development.
