Work Hours/Shift:

Full Time

You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Handles triage of clinical phone calls for applicable practices

  • Assists patients with clinical questions appropriate for medical assistant certification level

  • Assists clinical team and providers with answering clinical questions for patients, prescription refills and medical record transmission.

  • Helps with intake of new patients, medical history documentation and manages referrals from physicians and hospitals.

  • Strives for high patient satisfaction through productivity and accurate call triage

  • Follows established processes and procedures set forth within the Call Center

  • Displays professional presentation of AdventHealth throughout the process of patient scheduling and call triage

  • Shows the ability to work well under pressure and react to the practice and patient needs

  • Builds strong relationships with the Clinical teams

  • Participates in educational opportunities, specific to increased knowledge in applicable clinical disciplines.

  • A licensed Certified Medical Assistant

  • 2-years proven experience as a Medical Assistant

  • 2-years proven experience in a Call Center environment

  • Demonstrate basic inbound phone skills

  • Able to demonstrate a high level of patient engagement

  • Able to demonstrate self-motivation to improve knowledge and skills through personal research and development

  • Experience in a medical field


  • Maintain license of Certified Medical Assistant

Job Summary:

The Intake Specialist (IS) works closely with the Call Center and Clinical teams. The Intake Specialist is responsible for ensuring that new and existing patients are being efficiently processed by the practice, including capturing the patient(s) medical profile. The Intake Specialist is primarily responsible for triaging clinical phone calls and assisting the appropriate teams with the management of the patient.  Clinical phone calls are handled by the Intake Specialist in an accurate, efficient and professional manner.  Intake Specialists will assist with clinical triage, medical record transmission, and prescription refills, along with the clinical team and providers.  The Intake Specialist will also assist with scheduling new patients, nurturing new and established patients in their clinical care, and ensuring patient data is ready and available within Athena and that appropriate medical history has been captured. The Intake Specialist, with the assistance of the Clinical team, is responsible for gathering information related to patients being referred to AdventHealth by referring physicians and the hospital. The Intake Specialist is responsible for determining and documenting patient needs and assisting the Clinical teams with providing services to the patient. With the assistance of the call center representatives, this position assists with documentation requirements for the patient profile and intake process.  Teamwork, flexibility, and professionalism are central to the success of the team and are expected in this role.
