Work Hours/Shift:

  • Full-Time, Monday – Friday
  • 9:30am – 6:00pm

You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Enters new prescription orders assuring that all information is correct including proper patient, drug, medication directions, refills, and physician are selected at order entry.
  • Selects correct medications when processing or filling a prescription (checks NDC code) ensuring the prescription is filled correctly and does not activate drugs into inventory without the assistance of the buyers.
  • Processes and records all data for refill write-ups, IVR, and WEB refills on a daily basis communicating progress with supervisor, ensuring service standards are met.
  • Contacts physician’s office for any clarification, within registered pharmacy technician scope of practice guidelines, regarding missing prescription information and follows up with inquiring in a timely manner based on pharmacy processes, contacting the patient as necessary.
  • Explains the EZ Script program in an easily understood manner based on member’s knowledge of prescription program to facilitate transfer of prescription to the mail-order.
  • Understands the prescription plan thoroughly and communicates with customers or physician’s offices any questions regarding prescriptions, step therapy/prior authorization processes, price quotes, and high cost generic medications
  • Answers transfer calls into the call center in a courteous and timely manner, contributing to reduced abandonment rate and overall patient satisfaction.

What You Will Need:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year of retail or mail-order pharmacy setting.
  • A current Florida Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration, RPT; or to be obtained within first year of employment as a technician. Must complete state required continuing education requirement for registration  
  • 2 years retail or mail-order pharmacy setting, preferred

Job Summary:

The Customer Service Technician performs a wide variety of supportive duties to assist the Pharmacist in preparing and dispensing medication so that patients receive consistent care. This position is responsible for the timely processing of prescription refills and answers incoming calls into the pharmacy call center. In addition, the customer service technician assists in the print/processing, accounting function of the pharmacy and contacts members for prescription follow up as assigned. Works only under the supervision of a registered Pharmacist and does not perform duties that can only be legally performed by a registered Pharmacist.
