Work Hours/Shifts

Full Time, Days

You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Advises, counsels and assists associates as needed,
  • Follows the “Standard of Behavior” guidelines per hospital policy
  • Covers for Director and team leads when needed
  • Post mandatory requirement information for associates
  • When problems arise, seeks solutions
  • Continually looks for opportunities to improve services such as home equipment set-up process and annual associate competency verification
  • Maintains confidentiality and promotes the dignity of customers and associates in the department
  • Incorporates patient, physician, customer needs and concerns into decision-making and organizational action,
  • Participates in the Pulmonary Rehabilitation/Wellness programs by providing staffing, assisting with patient evaluations and follow-up care to ensure patient care needs are meet
  • Maintains competency documentation in all required areas annually
  • Maintains active involvement in JCAHO preparedness through committee participation and department intervention
  • Manages the home care equipment set-up process
  • Approves timesheets, TCFs and PDO request
  • Attends and participates in in-services, department meetings, and committees
  • Pursues continuing education in respiratory care beyond minimum requirements for state registration
  • Promotes patient, department and community education in respiratory care
  • Conducts and facilitates nursing education in respiratory care
  • Uses hospital equipment, supplies and resources responsibly
  • Follows procedures for correct billing/documentation of services provided
  • Prepares associates’ work schedules to ensure appropriate staffing is provided
  • Assists in the material management process to ensure appropriate products are being ordered and supplies are stocked
  • Interviews and hires team members in the absence of the department Director
  • Incorporates patient, physician, customer needs and concerns into decision-making and organizational action
  • Responds to emergency situations immediately, performs appropriate patient assessment and intervention and replaces emergency supplies in a timely manner
  • Performs respiratory care procedures according to physician orders, department policy/procedure, and patient care plan
  • Rotates management call
  • Assists in the disciplinary counseling
  • Assists in the AAR process
  • Assists in Rounding of associates/patients to ensure their needs are being met and policies/procedures are being followed
  • Performs and documents patient education as ordered by physician or as needed
  • Assists in making sure Worked Hrs/UOS and Supplies/UOS are within budget
  • Assists Director in looking for ways to be cost effective

What will you need?

  • Associates degree required; Bachelors Degree preferred
  • 1-2 years of position related year of experience
  • Kansas Respiratory Therapist License
  • BLS through American Heart Association

Job Summary

The Pulmonary Supervisor is responsible for the documentation of all mandatory associate requirements, in-service records, approval of CEU’s, JCAHO department preparedness, and the home care equipment process.  Provides assistance in the day-to-day clinical operations centered on staffing to ensure patient care needs are met. The Supervisor is also responsible for management of the new associate orientation process, approving timesheets, TCFs, PDO, the annual associate competency program and patient education with pulmonary staff and nursing.   The Supervisor is involved with the transition program to help reduce readmissions with COPD and Pneumonia which includes participating in the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program and Pulmonary Wellness.
