You Will Be Responsible For:
Provides quality patient care and maintains daily assigned duties:
  • Reviews and implements plan of care according to physician orders and prescriptions
  • Monitors daily patient health, symptoms, and radiation induced side effects and alerts appropriate staff when additional care/follow-up is needed
  • Monitors patient vitals, performs dressing changes, and provides appropriate clinical care and education when necessary.
  • Checks patient information and prepares treatment room and equipment according to radiation treatment plan.
  • Constructs immobilization devices to provide optimal positioning for radiation treatments.
  • Oversees patient scheduling including daily treatments, simulations, and coordination among physicians, surgical operating rooms, and patient transport and organizes care to ensure effective utilization of resources
  • Maintains documentation of medical record.
  • Preserves up-to-date knowledge of billing procedure codes, and reviews, submits, reconciles, and provides appropriate documentation of daily billed procedures.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Up to 1 Year of Clinical Experience required
  • Kansas LRT License required
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) required
  • BLS through American Heart Association required
EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE AND PREFERRED SKILLS:
  • Varian Trilogy Linear Accelerator, GE Discovery PET/CT scanner, MedRad Stellant CT Contrast Power Injector, ARIA record and verify system and ARIA and Cerner electronic medical records
  • External Beam Radiation Therapy: 3-dimensional, electron, intensity modulated radiation therapy, stereotactic radiosurgery, and stereotactic body
  • Brachytherapy: gynecologic cylinders, tandem and ovoids, endometrial, Syed, and SAVI breast irradiation
  • Imaging: Megavoltage (MV), Kilovoltage (KV), and Cone Beam Computed Tomography
  • Experience in GYN oncology as well as bariatric simulations and treatments
 
Job Summary:
The Radiation Therapist administers targeted doses of radiation as prescribed by a radiation oncologist. Assists in preparing sealed radioactive materials, calculates actual treatment dosages, and prepares equipment such as immobilization, treatment and protection.  Specific duties include: checking patient information; preparing room and equipment; patient and family communication; patient transport and transfer; performing radiation treatments; coordinating treatment and surgery schedules; monitoring patient vitals, maintaining department supplies; keeping records; and assisting with teaching
