You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Assists management in their development of control procedures/processes/policies, etc., as requested and/or as needed.
  • Audit findings are documented and reported on a timely basis utilizing the Charge Correction Tool within the computer system.
  • Identifies problem situations or inadequate conditions and extends training and recommendations to help determine the cause and implement corrective action where appropriate.
  • Makes cost effective recommendations on the basis of facts on hand.
  • Modifies scope or approach of the audits or investigations as circumstances dictate
Qualifications

What You Will Need:

  • Able to quickly learn and follow departmental policies and procedures.
  • Experience with Windows operating system.
  • Knowledge of the all anatomy including circulatory neuro systems.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrates use of good judgment by considering the implications of all alternatives.
  • Knowledge of coding of Cardiac Cath Lab procedures and devices.
  • Training as Cath Lab Tech or Cath Lab RN
  • Certification for Coding required if CCL Tech
  • RN with CCL in lab procedure experience of   >3 years  
  • Three years’ previous clinical experience required.  Inpatient or outpatient chart auditing or related experience required.  A working knowledge of medical terminology, patient care services, and medical record chart documentation (inpatient and outpatient) is required.  Experience using personal computers required.  Specific applications required include Word, Excel, and Email.
  • Current Licensed/Certified in one of the following: RN, Coding

Job Summary:

  • Performs inpatient and outpatient audits related to patient billing in assigned area for Cardiac Cath Lab. Researches and analyzes charges, CPT coding, and national coverage decisions in conjunction with medical charts to ensure compliance with Medicare, Medicaid and other third-party payers as well as to ensure appropriate reimbursement. Advises, educates and acts as clinical/billing liaison between ancillary departments, finance and business office staff. Ensures charge accuracy by reviewing patient charts and corresponding charges for appropriateness. Provide recommendations to ensure compliance; improve procedures, revenue, cash flow, and strengthen controls. Performs follow-up audits when appropriate. Produce and distribute reporting on errors to management and staff as well as provide necessary educational training. Also, performs other duties as assigned. All additional duties are completed in an acceptable manner and in a reasonable amount of time. The CCL Auditor is responsible for a single operational area of the CCL and covers all facilities in the Tampa West Region.  Individual must be well organized and able to communicate with facilities in a professional manner to convey any documentation and/or charge issues.  Extreme attention to detail is involved.
