You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Ensures policies are current and aligned with regulatory bodies (CMS, TJC, DNV, HFAP)
  • Establish, maintain and support the Policy Committee. This Committee will have multiple functions: assisting with monitoring policies for updates, reviewing evidence-based practices, keeping all policy owners accountable, etc.
  • Responsible for ensuring departments affected by policy and procedure changes are consulted with in development and approval.
  • Responsible for activities that ensure orderly operations of policies utilizing a standardized approach to organization of policies that are easily accessible to all hospital and contracted staff.
  • Responsible for policy review process that ensures all policies are reviewed periodically, when there are significant changes or when required by regulatory agencies.
  • Maintains Policy System including ordering and archiving policies.
  • Maintains security and privacy of Policy System.  Collaborates with Human Resources to maintain active Users. 
  • Provides support and training to Policy Manual Owners and Administrators. 
  • Considers the needs of clinical staff, new equipment and changing clinical practices by staying up to date on evidenced based practices
  • Monitors Policy System for notifications and critical alerts and communicates these alerts to the appropriate leaders for follow up (i.e.: product recalls, FDA alerts, etc.)
  • Successfully completes, submits, and presents reports for meetings within required timeframes
  • Facilitates organizational compliance with required data reporting through chart reviews and data extraction.
  • Promotes improved outcomes of care through increasing organizational knowledge of and compliance with Core Measures.
  • Assists with abstraction of charts while ensuring they are accurate and complete

  • Assists with data reports, data analysis and development of Pl action plans for units, divisions, or teams.

What You Will Need:

  • Prior experience in policy management
  • Prior experience in quality management and/or utilization/resource management activities such as chart reviews, data abstraction, data collation, data analysis.
  • Demonstrates initiative, flexibility, integrity and diplomacy.
  • Strong professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills required for effective and creative leadership in working with all levels of the organization including physicians, committees, senior management, and trustees, as well as patients and their families. 
  • Effective oral and communication skills.
  • Proficient use of Excel and Word systems.
  • Experience with a policy management system (i.e., Policy Manager, Policy Tech, etc.)
  • Five (5) years prior work experience as a staff nurse in an acute care hospital or health care quality experience within a hospital setting
  • Experience with team facilitation in a Continuous Quality Improvement environment.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited school of nursing or healthcare related field required
  • Current clinical experience with leadership responsibilities
  • Leadership qualities, strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Project management and analytical experience
  • Current Florida RN License

Job Summary:

• Organizes and facilitates activities associated with AdventHealth Policy and Procedures.

• As Policy Administrator, creates, maintains and assists the organization with policy management

• Employs techniques and tools associated with Continuous Performance Improvement to assist teams in achieving goals for improvement.

• Works extensively with physicians, nurses, and other hospital staff in carrying out this function.

• Helps maintain Disease Specific Certifications

• Supports other team members within the Administrative Improvement Department, including but not limited to: Surgical Liaison, Infection Control, Data Analyst and Informatics

• Abstraction of Core Measures as assigned by Director of Administrative Improvement

• Project Management as assigned by Director of Administrative Improvement

• Develop and implement education for Hospital and Medical Staff related to Core Measures and Process/Performance Improvement projects as assigned by Director of Administrative Improvement

• Maintain knowledge of CMS and TJC requirements and changes and prepares organization in advance of activation date

• FPPE and OPPE evaluations with Section and Sub-section Chiefs, as assigned by Director of Administrative Improvement

• Evaluations of charts for appropriateness of care as assigned by Manager of Quality and Patient Safety

• Coordinate MSQRC and other Medical Staff committees with Section and Sub-section Chiefs, as assigned by Director of Administrative Improvement
