Work Hours/Shift:

Full-time, Flexible schedule (mainly day shifts, but may need to work nights and weekends as needed)

You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Administers basic and advanced respiratory care treatments to patients in all areas of the hospital and has mastered the Level III job standards and description.
  • Develops educational programs for Respiratory Therapy and Nursing.
  • Works in conjunction with leadership in the development of policy and procedure updates and implementations.
  • Develops and educates team on all new policies and processes as identified.
  • Oversight of Preceptors and new orientation processes.
  • Implements and monitors an orientation and education process for new hires.
  • Regularly monitors staff activities in the clinical setting, ensuring that services are provided in accordance with department/facility policies and procedures. 
  • Ensures/monitors skills competencies for all staff.
  • Provides educational opportunities through CEU programs for RT department.
  • Identifies educational needs/requirements and coordinates opportunities (i.e., CEUs, Skills Fairs, new equip, etc.).
  • Adheres to and ensures staff adherence to the Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies. Projects professional standards and ethics by demonstrating regard for the dignity, confidentiality and respect of all patients, family members, visitors, and hospital personnel as defined in the philosophy of the organization. Participates in and pro-actively initiates performance improvement. 
  • Acts as a resource person and assists with clinical duties described in the job descriptions for Respiratory Therapy.
  • Performs other duties as requested by leadership. Supports hospital and department mission, goals, and department metrics.

What You Will Need:

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • A minimum of five years as a RRT with three years of critical care experience including intubation, arterial line placement, neonatal, pediatric and adult airway, resuscitation and ventilator management, blood gas analysis and interpretation. 
  • Must be a licensed RRT in the state of Florida
  • Certification in precepting within first year of hire.

Job Summary:

The Educator is responsible for the development and planning, administration, continuous review, organization and general effectiveness of the clinical and education component of the Respiratory Therapy Department. The Educator is also responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and re-evaluating the treatment, care and needs of an assigned group of patients to support the mission and goals of AdventHealth. Specific age groups are described in the position responsibilities. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Adheres to and ensures staff adherence to the Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies.
