You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Employee demonstrates the ability to coordinate and implement all phases of cardiopulmonary rehabilitation program in a professional and effective manner.
  • Assists the exercise physiologist with the development and updating of the exercise prescription.
  • Assesses and evaluates cardiac rhythm from the monitor, HR, BP, clinical status and workload of each patient during the exercise session.  Assess each patient for untoward cardiovascular symptoms and implement physician orders and/or standing orders as necessary for treatment.  Document teaching.
  • Initiates any emergency procedures appropriate to the patient's problems as assessed.
  • Documents accurately any appropriate information regarding the patient during actual exercise session.
  • Consults supervising physician, medical director or primary physician regarding arrhythmias or other complications during exercise sessions.
  • Documents any recommendations or instructions given to patient verbally or by phone outside designated monitored exercise session.
  • Teaching and counseling patients about coronary risk factor modification, routine cardiac pulmonary medications, breathing exercises, etc.
  • Continually assess clinical progress of each patient.

What You Will Need:

  • Position requires a Registered Nurse with current Texas license or in a qualifying compact State.
  • Requires current BLS and ACLS certification.
  • Critical Care experience of at least three to five years preferred.

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for coordinating Phase I and Phase II, and Phase III of Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.  This includes cardiac and pulmonary teaching and activity assignment of inpatients and outpatients.  Coordinates and develops cardiac and pulmonary related education curriculum as directed.
