Work Hours/Shift

Full Time/Overnight

Pay range is $16-22/hour (depending on experience)

You will be responsible for:
  • Maintains and operates power plant equipment.

  • Performs and completes all duties of the Maintenance engineer as necessary but not limited to equipment rounding/monitoring, responding to work request.

  • Operates, steam plant controls to provide proper steam pressure to main facility steam supply system.

  • Makes valve, pressure and temperature alignments and set points that insure provision of comfortable environment for the patients.

  • Operates compressors to provide medical gas to the facility.  This includes medical air, medical vacuum, nitrous oxide etc.

  • Starts and stops emergency generator systems for testing and aligns system for automatic standby.

  • Takes hourly reading and monitoring of all equipment, instrumentation, temperature, pressure and humidity rating necessary to ensure safe operation of the facility especially those that are critical care areas.,

  • Makes valve alignments to distribute chill water through various facility cooling systems.

  • Operates controls to stop, start and adjust operation of power plant chillers.

  • Maintains a current knowledge of the hospitals system management program.

  • Monitors and makes control adjustments to the facility fire alarm system as required and necessary.

  • Inspects and repairs hospital fire suppression systems. such as automatic fire alarm system, sprinkler system, pre-action system, ansul system, etc.

  • Draws water samples from boilers and cooling towers, conducts analysis, interprets results and makes necessary adjustments as required.  Document the testing result on the daily engineering log.

  • Operates and interprets display from automated and computerized building management systems as required.  Notify team lead, facilities engineering manager and/or administrative director of facilities of any abnormal discrepancies that may impact daily operations.

  • Performs all duties standard to building maintenance practices.

  • Diagnoses problems in all equipment associated with the facility and building and its accessories.

  • Makes repairs to door hardware, automatic and manual door holder, astragals, door sweeps etc.

  • Disassembles and replaces parts in medical gas outlets as required. Repair of leaking medical gas outlet

  • Makes minor plumbing repairs including clearing clogged drains and toilets and repair of flushometer (Manual or automatic)

  • Makes minor electrical repairs such as electrical outlet, switch and ballast repairs /replacement

  • Makes minor repairs to gasoline and diesel driven vehicles as required.

  • Maintains the facility interiors by replacing ceiling tiles, base boards and installing art work or framed certificates.

  • Inventories parts, stocks material and initiates Purchase Requisitions for replacement of materials needed for day to day operations.

  • Maintains the cleanliness of those areas assigned. Must be familiar with proper use of commonly used cleaning equipment.

  • Replaces room A/C units, fans, Hepa Air Purifiers/filters, radiator heaters, Air Handling Unit filters.

  • Changes out T.V.s, responders, nurse calls-pillow speakers, TV remotes, bed controls.

  • Provide emergency repairs on patient’s beds, stretchers, wheelchairs and understands functions, ex Trendelenburg.

  • Completes maintenance requests and PMs in the preventive maintenance procedures and turns in monthly or within time frame ascribed.

  • Completes preventive maintenance procedures and turns in monthly or within time frame ascribed.

  • Enters completed maintenance requests and PMs in the preventive maintenance computer software program.

  • Utilizes and / or learns basic computer applications such as E-mail, word processing, and preventive maintenance program.

  • Performs all duties associated with the standard building maintenance, and the healthcare environment, and other duties as assigned, and assists tradesman in completing tasks as required.

  • Performs additional duties as requested or assigned.

What will you need?
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Four years of previous experience in institutional or large building maintenance. (Experience can be substituted for school on a two year experience for one year schooling basis). (Preferred)
  • Refrigeration and Heating Ventilating and Air conditioning, minor plumbing, minor electrical skills required
  • Johnson Control Metasys Building Maintenance System, Electrical, Plumbing, Refrigeration and HVAC skills preferred
