Work Hours/Shift:

Full-Time/Days

You Will Be Responsible For:

• Scheduling surgical procedures both inpatient and outpatient

• Calling physician’s offices to confirm surgery schedule

• Calling physician’s offices when open block time is available

• Calling patients to verify appointments

• Scanning surgical patients’ medical records into chart

• Answering telephones in surgical department

• Faxing and/or emailing scheduling sheets to required departments

• Transporting patients to and from surgery as needed

• Check patients’ charts for pre-op readiness and calling physician’s office for missing items

• Ordering supplies

Qualifications

What You Will Need:

  • Customer Service experience preferably in a healthcare setting required
  • Associates Degree preferred
  • BLS Required

Job Summary:

The Health Unit Coordinator under the direct supervision of the Clinical Nurse Manager, Clinical Supervisor, or Charge Nurse, performs general non-clinical duties and specific services necessary to expedite the efficient functioning of the surgery department consistent with the philosophy, goals, policies and procedures in the department and hospital administration.  Adheres to the AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies.  Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. The health unit coordinator facilitates the scheduling of patients for available services.  Works with numerous departments while multi-tasking and maintaining accuracy and performance within a fast-paced surgical department.  Interacts in a professional and timely manner with patients, physician offices, and other department personnel to accomplish patient satisfaction.  Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
