We are currently seeking qualified candidates for a System Vice President of Supply Chain Operations position located at our headquarters in Altamonte Springs, Florida.  

GENERAL SUMMARY: 

Reporting to the Chief Supply Chain Officer (CSCO), the System VP of Supply Chain Operations is the central resource for designing and executing responsible, cost effective supply chain strategies across the organization. This role will oversee and manage all operational functions of supply chain throughout the organization including all regional directors or regional vice presidents throughout the system. He/she oversees system-level processes for inventory management, direct and indirect material purchasing, capital equipment purchases. This role supports the division’s accountability for total company supply spend and management of medical and clinical costs to meet business plan targets. VP plays a key role in system design, utilization, and improvement. Particular areas of focus for this role will include elimination of duplicate inventories; standardization of supplies; management of supplier relationships and monitoring of contract performance and compliance; supply expense reduction through efficiencies and elimination of redundant processes; leveraging of appropriate technologies for optimal efficiencies and to ensure appropriate linkage to other systems and development and monitoring of internal/external benchmarks for supply chain performance. 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Develop a system-wide approach for end-to-end supply chain integration that delivers customer service and proactively communicates with key market leaders to build credibility and foster relationships. 

  • Design, development and execution of a supply chain operations vision, strategic plan and annual operating plan to include inventory management, direct and indirect material purchasing, capital. 

  • Work closely with the CSCO to communicate internally throughout the system on major supply chain initiatives and externally with strategic partners to further build and develop partnerships. 

  • Work with the Value Analysis team to develop system-wide processes that manage product conversions, standardization and utilization targets.  Ensure that developed processes improve supply utilization, contract compliance, and maximize integration, and standardization of products. 

  • Lead, plan and evaluate day to day operations of business to ensure systematic progress and facilitate implementation of top performing supply chain operations as it relates to non-labor expenses. 

  • Accountable for assuring compliance and providing evidence of performance with DNV and other regulatory requirements for supply management are met.  

  • Adheres to applicable practice standards specific to area of responsibility including monitoring supply storage and disposal ensuring compliance  

  • Research, benchmark, introduce, and customize best practices in medical device evaluation, inventory management and distribution operations. 

  • Works cross functionally on all areas of cost control including IT, General and Administrative and equipment purchases. 

  • Provides leadership for efficient, purposeful and responsible development and delivery of service contracts (through best practice RFP processes), including new spend, contract renewals. 

  • Establishes professional, effective relationships with physicians, clinicians and senior leadership to evaluate and obtain the best quality medical implants, devices, and supplies while minimizing the total cost of ownership. 

  • Provides strategic input and direction to support capital projects during proposed and approved projects. 

  • Manages day-to day operations with construction company (Jacobs). 

  • Develops and execute strategies in support of the largest area of (non-labor) expense for the hospital network - medical, surgical and clinical supplies, takes risks and makes decisions based on facts. Uses analysis and critical thinking skills to solve problems and ensures that decisions are aligned with strategic directions. 

  • Promote, act and collaborate as a unified leadership team to drive culture. 

  • Develop and deliver effective quality improvement initiatives and appropriate metrics to drive correct behavior and affect results. 

  • Review performance of strategic initiatives by gathering, analyzing and interpreting data and metrics, advancing solutions as they become available. 

  • Streamline material management processes to reduce waste and improve efficiency and inventory turns. 

  • Coordinate with Supply Chain executives to set strategic goals and determine operational activities to accomplish business objectives. 

  • Develop and build recruiting platforms to promote higher education engagement with supply chain through the creation of internships and co-op programs 

  • Create talent tracking and retention tools to serve as basis for internal promotion opportunities for staff and leaders currently within supply chain. 

  • Provides leadership in workforce planning and employment decisions, champions a diverse workforce, interprets and evaluates employee satisfaction and quality of work surveys, takes action as needed to ensure a positive outcome. 

  • Accountable for ensuring staffing performance is effective and efficient and promotes core values.  Assures that staff is representative of the population diversity through oversight of recruitment, selection and retention of personnel.  Ensures that staff are actively engaged in decisions within their scope of practice. 

  • Mentor and coach staff to ensure that departmental objectives are met with regard to best practices and customer service. 

  • Lead the supply chain team with professional expertise in healthcare logistics and inventory management. 

  • Assures a complete succession plan for rollup up to and including own position.  Actively mentors others into the leadership role. 

  • Maximize existing talent by providing counsel, leadership, guidance and direction and assisting in the development of an organizational culture appropriate to support the mission. 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: 

  • Knowledge of clinical practices and processes, legal and regulatory requirements and mandates, and the ability to gather and evaluate data and outcome results to use in planning operations, budgets, and process improvement. 

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Able to effectively express ideas and views through public speaking, presentations, reports, and professional correspondence.  

  • Exceptional people management, leadership skills, and the capacity to relate to people in a manner that wins confidence and establishes support. 

  • Strategic vision and thinking. Ability to position the organization for the future, looking beyond the present situation to conceptualize key trends and identify changing market demands.  

  • Strong business acumen, intelligence, and capacity; able to think strategically and implement tactically.  

  • Approaches work as an interconnected system. Ability to understand major objectives and break them down into meaningful action steps.  

  • Financial skills including budgeting, analyzing, and planning 

  • Strong organizational abilities and the flexibility to adjust to changing conditions and the various details of the position.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, and/or Supply Chain.  

  • Eight years of experience in procurement management and inventory control in healthcare or medical device industry. 

  • Five years of leadership experience within healthcare or medical device industry 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED: 

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA)
