You Will Be Responsible For:
  • Demonstrates through behavior of AdventHealth’s core values of Integrity, Compassion, Balance, Excellence, Stewardship and Teamwork as outlined in the organization’s Performance Excellence program booklet.
  • Utilizes a working knowledge of the service areas and takes the most direct route to reach a destination. 
  • Operates emergency vehicles safely in a variety of weather and emergent conditions in accordance to established safety standards.  Effectively communicates delays and updates to dispatch. Immediately reports any damage or vehicle issues to the supervisor.
  • Helps in completing supply and equipment inventories each shift, restocking as needed.  Keeps the work environment clean and organized.  Refuels as per department protocol.  Maintains the unit in a constant state of readiness. 
  • Works as a team while transporting, assisting in patient management and able to effectively communicate information to other health care members.
  • Ensures patient documentation is accurate, complete and complies at all times. 
  • Understands and appropriately uses equipment/systems in the department to include but not limited to the EPCR, Cerner, monitors and stretchers.
  • Communicates appropriate and accurate information, proficiently and professionally, through radio and telephone communications on the recorded line.
  • Completes the Right CAD log with patient demographics and time stamped events of the transfer process for accuracy of department STATS.
  •  Ensures documentation is complete containing accurate information and is in compliance with department protocols.
  • Relays patient updates to supervisors, medical control, transport teams, sending and receiving facilities, and the accepting physician; of estimated arrival times as per protocols.
  • Follows dispatch standard operating protocols and GPS tracking.
  • Initiates chain of command in notification of incidents.
  • Notifies the ground crews of location of the patient; weight; and equipment needed.
  • Proficiently utilizes systems and equipment in the department to include by not limited to radios; Sunport, Cerner, RightCad and Zoom recording systems; and GPS tracking. 

Qualifications
What You Will Need:
  • Telephone and radio communications skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Understanding of EMS operations
  • High School Diploma or GED upon hire
  • Dispatch or transfer center experience upon hire
  • High quality driving skills
  • American Heart Association BLS upon hire
  • Current Florida Driver’s License (no restrictions) upon hire
Job Summary:
  • A Under general supervision the Program Manager or Dispatch supervisor, the EMS Dispatcher is an allied health care team member who is responsible for providing indirect patient care.  The EMS dispatcher is responsible for receiving all calls for transport both emergent and nonemergent.  Upon receipt of the call the dispatcher must then triage the patient  Adheres to the AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies.  Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Are responsible for the coordination of transfers into and within the AdventHealth system by ground.
