You Will Be Responsible For:  
 
  • Develops and maintains strategic relationships with AdventHealth Research Services and all AdventHealth Research Institute departments and teams.

  • Manages a research design and statistical consultation team and oversees the work of the team. Including the authority to manage workflow and revision of SOPs or policy. Responsible for departmental hiring and developing department and study budgets.

  • Responsible for strategic relationships with Senior Leadership, Research Services and all AH Research Departments/Institutes.

  • Provides statistically sound experimental design and advanced data analysis to meet project objectives and regulatory requirements.

  • Acts as the Statistical Expert for the institution and provides direct communication to Senior Leadership.

  • Directs and reviews the statistical consultation process provided by team members.

  • Supervises the computation of power analyses, randomization schema and study design options at study start-up meetings. Studies may be internal, external, grants or other federally sponsored trials.

  • Reviews statistical analyses for accurate statistical interpretation prior to presentation of results to researchers.   

  • Develops and directs the educational curriculum for researchers and academic students that include residents and fellows. Mentors internal junior biostatisticians.

  • Oversees the institutional scientific review process providing Senior Leadership with direction for advancing research. 


Qualifications
What You Will Need:
Required:
  • PhD degree in statistics, biostatistics, or related field

  • 6-8 years of research experience as a biostatistician or specialized field working with physicians in a medical setting

  • 6-8 years of SAS coding experience or other statistical software such as R, Python or STATA.

  • Comprehensive understanding of theoretical and applied statistics, research design, and data measurement

  • Ability to effectively report to Senior Leadership and provide strategic direction options

  • Successfully manage a diverse team of researchers and support staff and manage budgets

  • Outstanding organizational and multi-tasking skills

  • Assessment of statistical analysis reports and the ability to direct project completion 

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, especially with physician investigators

  • Ability to create an educational curriculum for non-statisticians

  • Understanding of data governance, data integrity and other associated research concerns

  • Provide support to team of biostatisticians

Preferred:
  • SAS certification
  • Expert in either data science, clinical trials (phase I-IV), omics data (genomics, proteomics or metabolomics
Job Summary:
 

The Principal Biostatistician will manage a team of statisticians and other related team members including hiring and budget responsibilities. The Principal Biostatistician will act as the statistical expert for the institution and provide direct input to Senior leaders.  The Principal Biostatistician will supervise team tasks including project flow, journal club participation and group management including budgets and hiring. The Principal Biostatistician will direct the statistical education of team members and researchers. The Principal Biostatistician actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
