You Will Be Responsible For:
- Reviews, identifies and accessions reportable cases from pathology, radiation oncology and the hospital’s disease index.
- Accurately abstracts and reports data required, including information available through multiple hospital systems and from necessary external sources.
- Participates in oversight review of completed cases per Quality Data Control Plan correcting discrepancies within month of case collection.
- Assist with maintaining annual follow-up.
- Participates in or facilitates performance improvement initiatives to achieve the goals set for improvement initiatives, especially the CP3R/RQRS Quality Measures and other priority initiatives as identified by the organization and external agencies.
- Participate in monthly meetings and cancer conferences
- Serve as a back-up for Cancer Conference/Tumor Board Coordination.
- Monitors security measures to ensure confidentiality of information
- Participation in CoC survey process.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
What You Will Need:
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Computer background with experience with databases, spreadsheets and/or word processing
- Ability to work independently
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel & Power Point preferred
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
- High school diploma/equivalent
- Associate’s degree [or equivalent (60 college credits) needed to meet CTR eligibility requirements preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Medical terminology, knowledge of disease processes and anatomy, oncology
- Cancer Registry background preferred
Job Summary:
To assist with research and collection of all cancer patient information as required by state and national guidelines, including, but not limited to data retrieval, patient follow-up, case finding and data entry into the cancer registry software
