You Will Be Responsible For:
To provide ministry to patients, families and staff by determining and meeting their spiritual concerns and perceived needs.
Visit patients and/or their families in the patient's hospital room or in casual encounters in various hospital areas.
Responds to Code Blue and other emergencies immediately with less than two (2) complaints in six (6) months.
Responds to requests for Chaplain's services within twenty-four hours.
Visits surgery patients within forty-eight hours of admission or surgery.
Conducts periodic support groups for clinical staff.
Maintains open communication with all staff members throughout the hospital, on a casual and formal basis.
Conducts or directs devotional services in the chapel on a scheduled basis available to patient’s family and staff members.
Conducts or attends various devotional activities with departments whose work schedule conflicts with Chapel services.
Maintains cooperative working relationships with local clergy by securing name of patient's pastor or faith group, then contacting their pastoral representative and informing them of patient request for pastoral visit.
To provide instruction and support to patients, family, staff and community through seminars, in-service sessions, support groups and individual counselling, to share information on coping skills for meeting (dis)stressful situations.
Conducts quarterly Grief Recovery Seminars for former patient's family and or friends who have expired or in other loss situations.
Grief Recovery is open to public on an "as needed" basis.
Conducts quarterly support groups of staff of emergency or critical care areas or in Nurse's stations as needed.
Informal contacts with clinical staff on units.
Cooperates with hospital and community health education efforts by instructing in the spiritual components, on an "as needed" basis, usually at least quarterly.
Responsible for operating a cost effective department staying within estimated budgetary guidelines.
Ordering and maintaining supply inventories within budget.
Maintaining supply inventories and distributing them during Grief Recovery Seminars, all within budget (positive cash flow).
What You Will Need:
A M.Div. degree or equivalent education in an accredited Theological or Divinity School (M. Div. is a three year, 96 semester hour course of study) preferred.
