Work Hours/Shift:

Full-time/Days

You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Communicates with courtesy when interacting with internal or external customers – in person or on the telephone

Qualifications

What You Will Need:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Associates Degree or higher in Nursing
  • Understanding of hemodynamic monitoring
  • EKG rhythm recognition

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse / Nurse Practitioner in Florida or licensure from another state with verification of application and eligibility for Florida licensure by endorsement.
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • NIHSS from Know Stroke (NIHSS from American Heart Association will be accepted upon hire, subsequent renewals must be completed through Know Stroke)

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

Individuals must possess these knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and to demonstrate that s/he can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

  • Able to quickly learn and follow departmental policies and procedures.
  • Experience with Windows operating system.
  • Knowledge of the all anatomy including circulatory neuro systems.
  • Assists in training new employees once becoming independent in each position.
  • Performs properly and legibly documents and reports all procedures in accordance with department policies.          

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

  • Collection of comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health/situation and unit specific data for process improvement initiatives including initial patient assessment within expected timeframe, initiates consults as indicated from database collection, identifies patient/family teaching and discharge planning needs.
  • The patient’s plan of care is developed, individualized and prioritized in collaboration with the patient, family, and health team members that is sensitive to the patient’s cultural and spiritual needs and to attain expected outcomes. 
  1. Rounding/AIDET
  2. Demonstrates knowledge and location of departmental policies and procedures.
  3. Demonstrates effective communication between him/herself, the patient and the family, other staff, physicians, and other hospital departments.
  4. Accurately calculates and safely administers IM, PO, SL, and IV medications.
  5. Demonstrates clinically accurate pre-cath preparations.
  6. Maintains accurate and timely documentation in accordance with hospital and departmental polices and guidelines.
  7. Implements the following protocols correctly:
  • Pre-Cath lab Management
  • IV conscious sedation
  • Post Cath lab management for out-patients.
  1. Demonstrates ability to implement IR protocols:
  • Pre-procedure preparation
  • Safely and appropriately screen patients for pregnancy, elevated creatinine
  • IV conscious sedation
  • Post procedure management for out-patients
  1. Demonstrates competence in reading and interpretations of cardiac rhythms and waveforms
  2. Demonstrates initiation of emergent care related to
  • Pacemakers
  • Blood Product Transfusion
  • Transvenous and Transcutaneous Pacing
  • Defibrillator
  1. Proficiently uses appropriate clinical decision making and leadership during emergent situations.

15.  Demonstrates ability to activate, and check utilized equipment at the start of each day and document on appropriate log forms:

  • Pyxis (automated medication and supply distribution towers)
  • Glucometer

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse provides self-directed, effective nursing care to groups of patients and other duties as assigned in accordance with Division of Nursing standards and pursuant to Florida Department of Professional Regulation, Chapter 464.003 (3) (a): “Practice of professional nursing means the performance of those acts requiring substantial specialized knowledge, judgment and nursing skill based upon applied practices of psychological, biological, physical, and social sciences which shall include, but not limited to:
