You Will Be Responsible For:
  • Creates programs in culinary medicine to complement the provider practices of medical doctor and naturopathic doctor in the Center for Whole Health.
  • Undertakes individual nutritional counseling with identified clients.
  • Knowledgeable in common chronic diseases and appropriate diet to support optimal living with diagnosis.
  • Develops and teaches cooking classes to small groups so that knowledge of culinary medicine is transferred and behavior change can occur.
  • Develops and teaches didactic classes on culinary medicine that will appeal to consumer population and draw people to the Center for Whole Health.
  • Involved in the food community in Kansas City, sending the message of AdventHealth Whole Person Health and Culinary Medicine in various food venues.
  • Develops recipes that support healthy lifestyle.
  • Actively translates clinical knowledge of nutrition into easily understood concepts and action.
  • Continuously identifies and evaluates new ideas to grow volume in Center for Whole Health.  
  • Designs a process for feedback to referring physicians after clients attend culinary medicine programs to provide continuity of care and team focus on behavior change toward optimal health. 
  • Develops lunch and learn programs for surrounding business clients to advance the message of Culinary medicine and develop relationships with surrounding business.
  • Supports and is actively engaged in facility design in the Center for Whole Health.
  • Regularly provides presentations in the community on topics of interest in Culinary Medicine.
  • Undertakes research in the medical literature related to food, nutrition and diets to support specific diagnoses and for those seeking optimal health; develops appropriate diets based on clinical knowledge where the research is silent.
  • Works as a team member in the Center for Whole Health with medical providers and coaches to continuously improved processes and develop a better experience for clients.
  • Participates in regular team meetings to assess client needs in a holistic, multidisciplinary way. 

What You Will Need:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5-7 years of position-related experience
  • 3-5 years of experience as a trained chef
  • Registered Dietician
Job Summary:

The Culinary Medicine Program Director will be responsible for creating the complementary Culinary Medicine programming to meet the needs of the Center for Whole Health.  These programs will be developed based on the expertise of the Culinary Medicine leader in clinical dietetics and cooking techniques but in concert with the holistic providers in the Center.  The Director will be experienced in client education in food, nutrition, cooking and healthy recipe development.  He/she will have experience in one-on-one client consultation in food/nutrition/dietetics as a registered dietician but also have the skills and abilities to teach group classes on cooking techniques and educational sessions on culinary medicine topics of interest.  Identifies trends in food and nutrition and develops programming to meet needs of the consumer groups served by the Center. Advances the concept of Food as Medicine in the community.  Undertakes business development activities in concert with the Campus Administrator
